I got the fakeav trojans a few weeks ago. McAffee did not catch it in real time or scans. I finally got to trendmicro again. Their main anti virus program is Pcillin, which I had on my last laptop. The housecall is a free scan, which caught the 2 trojans in a short time. I will be downloading malwarebytes, which I have heard is a good thing to run at least once a week.

I too had this virus...$100.00 to eliminate it...the computer shop in Lady Lake, FL put Avast Anti-virus and Malwarebytes anti-malware in my computer and said they have 30 calls per day with this. Be careful!!

I've just been on my Yahoo mail and had no problems at all. But we are on Yahoo7 Australia.
There are Yahoo main sites all over the world, which Yahoo site was the Problem?
Please see my message to iris2006 for my further comments on this latest Hacker Scare Tactic.

My cousin got it to you can fix it your self
turn computer off
then back on while holding down the F11 key
then go to restore my computer and after it is done
you have to go into your program file (forgot name but look it up on line it works we did it) turn off the computer and start it back up
you can go on line and it also tells you how to fix it
I looked it up and she did what it said and it worked

I too had this Virus. I called my cousin and he said it is a rogue virus that attaches as soon as you open the web page and it burrows in and is very hard to get rid of. And he said, Do Not try and use the computer. Shut it off and get it in to someone who can get rid of it for you. And should you make the mistake of buying this program and let it install, you will have it bad. Please use caution. Sassylady
I have had this virus on my computer as well and didn't know it was a virus. My computer would flicker.I ran Spybot Search & Destroy. It picked up the Security Tool. The way it was listed I was not sure whether or not to remove it.I figured if it was something my computer needed I would just figure out how to put it back on it.I run Spybot nightly since then and have picked it up twice. AVG does not pick it up.And something also disabled my other anti virus software at the time this was on my computer showing there was no problem. That's why I went to using AVG.McAfee was disabled seemingly by it.
Got the same last month and so did hubby. Good thing we had more than one computer. I got it first and jokeingly told him he would get it too. He didn't believe me until it happened, Beware of this one, it wlll not go away by itself. Can't even try to delete it off. Had to call for the computer geeks.
Thanks for letting us know. I joined a Yahoo group on 1 site last year and was bombarded with e-mails and got quite a few virusus with that. I then decided Yahoo is definitely not worth the trouble you may get through them.
Thanks for sharing! I sure pray people will get too much to do that they will not have time to infect others computer *2U
I just sent an email..not thru Yahoo..to PNW to see if they have some way to contact Yahoo as I am a member of their group. Best Buy is also aware of this, as they call it, nasty virus. And it was going to be BIG bucks to correct. Be careful & keep your virus check up to date!
I use Yahoo for my E-mail. I noticed yesterday that I was having trouble clicking the back key up in the left top corner. This had happened once before and I immediately ran my adaware and AVG and it picked up something, so I ran both again and the Adaware picked up something. It scared me too, because this is my new computer and I love it.
Gerry thanks for the warning. I don't know how to contact Yahoo, but I will not log in and I'm thinking of leaving all the Yahoo groups.
That's overkill.
I've been using Yahoo for over ten years and never had a problem caused by any of their groups or sites. I even use MYYahoo as my internet homepage.
No way would I ever give up my Yahoo groups they are far too valuable as a source of friendship and information.
BUT, ALL websites are vulnerable to outside attacks, it is just a matter of trying to stay one jump ahead of the hackers with good security protection and firewalls that are so difficult to breach that the hackers give up trying.

Thanks for alerting us; don't know how to alert Yahoo.
