Welcome back. I also want to say how much I appreciate your help with animal rescue. Some of these babies have hard lives without anyone that cares for them. I did canine rescue for alot of years. My Vet at the time got me involved. He and his wife were friends of mine(both passed away)for a very long time. I would go into the Vet's office and venture off to the cages and could handle almost all of the dogs that would bite everyone else. That is how/why I got involved. My 4 yr old Pekinges that I adopted off of Petfinders.com, 2 yrs and 3 months ago came home with me scared and wild. Her human mommy had passed away and the family did not want her. She left North Ga. and went into foster care for 7 or 8 months before they put her on Petfinders. I took one look and fell in love. She is beautiful and has the biggest smile I have ever seen. I emailed Amy'sArk and got the reply that someone was interested in her and was supposed to get her in a few days. I emailed her back and told her to let me know, that I still wanted her and would make the trip to Tn. to get her! I have an older Pekingese and she was afraid that the two would not get along. I gave her my history and assured her that my other baby was a gentle as a baby and would not even growl at another dog no matter how young or how wild. I did not hear from Amy for a couple of days and I moped around like I was sick. Amy actually called me (phone) and told me that I could come and get her. I drove from S.E Ga to Atlanta and my son and I went to Tn. to pick her up. My avatar is the picture of the 2 girls the very minute that they met. The baby is the alpha dog but my older(dying of cancer now)girl just looks at her and tries to be friends. I was hoping that would be buddies but that has not happened. My older, Bebe, watches out fo her when they go outside and the younger girl, Patty stays right under her outside but bring them inside and Patty has nothing to do with Bebe. Bebe had a very bad night last night and I stayed up with her until almost 5:00 this morning. After her meds took affect, she settled down. I think it started with a nightmare and it scared her. I do think last night was also the first sign of her showing any pain. She has 2 huge tumors on her tummy, one of which drags the floor. She was too old to have an operation when the first tiny tumor showed up on her. I helped the Vet deliver the litter of preemie Pekes on a freezing cold day 12/23/95. They were not supposed to make it but I kept 4 out of the 6. We lost the first born and the last born. She was the only female and the only litter I ever let happen at my house! Hugs, Linda
I am glad you enjoyed the holidays and I am glad you are back
