yellows and warm shades of blues and greens depending on the colours chosen to add to the base (Primary) colours: red, green & blue.

Have you ever put together two shades of red and wondered why one looked fantastic with the outfit you were wearing and the other one looked revolting?

Chances are one was a cool (Blueish) red while the other was a warm (orange-ish) red.

The same principle applies across the whole spectrum.

If you want to prove this theory go down to your local paint (house) supplier and look at the colour charts, you only need look at one colour (Grey) but look at all the variations and place one grey up against a true blue, then compare all the other greys against the same blue.

Some will look fantastic and "pick up" the blue, while others will look green, or even mauve, against the blue.

Just this exercise will teach you a lot about colours.

Yes, there is a lot to color selection. It comes more naturally to some than others.

Good way to put it. There was a time where everyone had their colors done. It is amazing how it affects the way you look by what color you have close to your face.

If you want to learn more go to an artist's supplies and buy a yourself a colour wheel, read the accompanying directions and study the chart.....

or if you have a Microsoft colour palette (Like the pic below) that you know how to access, open it and use your cursor to scroll around inside the coloured screen, paying attention to how the colour changes when you move the cursor closer towards the next colour.

EG, if you start with a green and move the cursor towards the yellow keeping it in the same horizontal, then move it towards the blue side and see how it changes from warm to cool.

Take the cursor down towards the bottom of the square and do this same exercise and see how the grey changes.

The more you can play around inside this colour palette the more you will understand the correlation between colours and shades and why some work together and others don't.

I hope this helps you even more and if there are trained graphic artists out there reading this I would greatly appreciate any input you may give as it's been a long time since I went to school and learnt the basics.
Hugs n roses, Meganne

Duelling laptops, What a hoot!
If it wasn't for a friend I would throw this one in the nearest pool and watch it fry. (Just kidding, patience is a virtue!) Obsolescence is a pain! :-)
