SNOW, SNOW, SNOW!!! Carroll Co. Md. We have not had a winter like this for quite some time! We had 24-28 inches of snow with the last one which didn't have a chance to melt. I just looked to see what we have so far again today. Looks like an additional 16 inches and still going strong. Hubby has a tractor with a snow blower on it. It goes out early morning and I'm lucky to see him by dark. He was still plowing at 9pm the other night. Came in to eat for a short bit. He starts with our drive which is long and just keeps going up and down to road to get as many people as he can. He doesn't do it for pay so I think it is a case of being able to play with his favorite toy!!! Yes, I know everyone appreciates it. Hey, he is retired, what better way to spend his time! Stay safe and warm to all in the snow belt!
What a delightful family you are to donate your husband's plowing of driveways. I know that it takes him away, but it must be appreciated by one and all!
We have a neighbor who is a physician so the streets are plowed fairly early, usually.
Don't all men love tractors, trucks, boats and all of the boy toys?
You keep warm too, and give him a hug from all of us! Hug for you too.
Well i am not in the least sorry about not having the snow here...In fact my rose bushes are sprouting out and my hubby has been outside weeding and barkdusting for the past few days....Please keep it that way thank you...deanna
Dear Deanna;
Wow; sprouts on your rose bushes. What a lovely picture that conjures in my mind. The worst thing that we have endured is the cancellation of church for 3 weeks in a row. They cancelled services again, tonight.
The church is suffering, financially, too, and is encouraging people to tithe on line.
Now tell me, what is barkdusting? I understand weeding, but does barkdusting involve trees or dogs???
I'm wishing with you that spring arrives. here it's snowing all day now, so now 10 cm of fresh fallen snow. and the old snow was not even melted verywhere. So yes, let there be spring! take good care and stay safe and warm.hugs gerry
Gerry, that's about what we received today. Yesterday I went out back and knocked the ice off of a small potted tree, which had bent in half. It straightened right up, and I expect it to live, but will repot another from the yard, if it doesn't. This is a test as some of these little rose of sharon trees are potted and living indoors and some are outdoors. Hope they all make it to spring.
I'm hoping you can keep warm and snug in your home and wait for the spring thaw with the rest of us.
We were lucky in Atlanta. It has all been rain, but north Ga. and up are all snow. I have been trying to go to Tennessee for several weeks and have been unable to and flying is out of the question also. Hope you keep your electricity. I understand many are without. After all your machine won't work with out it. Ha! Ha!
None of the machines will work without it. A 'dirty' word in our house is "generator". I want one for just such occasions, but my DH is waiting for the affordability of a 'fuel cell' generator (it's less costly to operate and very energy friendly). I'm imagining a tread mill hooked up to a battery, so that my computer and embroidery machines work. Didn't realize that you had some snow in Atlanta. All of the east coast (and some other) airports are socked in. We can't even get to our airport.
Hope you can get your flight to Tennessee soon.
Spring is on the way! (I hope.)
Here in Milton PA we too are getting snow. at the moment it is just a light snow but the winds are supposed to pick up so then it will start getting nasty. I lived in North Dakota for 10 years and in Montana for 5 years so I have had my fill of blizzards and snow.!! I too will be glad to see spring.
Wow; North Dakota and Montana; it IS blizzard country up there!
Will look up Milton, PA, as I'm not sure of it's location.
Hope you don't lose electricity. Stay warm.
I'm in Pittsburgh PA. (lower western PA.) and OH Yea...we're getting more snow 6-8 inches more. Last weekend we got the 26 inches which did come up from Virginia...same one you got.
Stay warm...pray the electricity stays on.
Hugs
Believe me, I didn't wish the snow on my northern cuties.
Perhaps I'd better go and wash some clothes, so we'll have something clean, if the power goes out!
Stay warm and safe. Hugs to you, too.
WELL IN NORTHERN ONTARIO WE HAVE TONS OF SNOW & I AM GLAD THE WEATHER MAN IS SHAREING WITH YOU:):)CAROLYN
Ooooo; have never been that for North. Only made it to Toronto once, and loved it there.
Noticed that you asked someone to convert their design for you. Wilcom is a free program that converts to a lot of formats. Have you tried it?
Stay warm!
I miss the Brooklyn NY snow. We don't get it here in my part of SC...FIESTA ANYHOW ;< ;D *2U
I was born in NYC; lived there as a child and miss the childhood memories of snow. Didn't have to drive in it ever, since I moved south as a young teen.
Glad you're in SC; my daughter is in Columbia now, but complains of some heat. Told me that her house is cold b/c the builder didn't make it for the cold temperatures.
Stay warm enough, and take care. Fiesta to you, too.
Ditto for here in Waynesboro,PA. It's a real pain to try and feed the calves. I had some nice paths from the last storm and this a.m. it was nasty going through. It's hard to judge where you're walking in all this white stuff. I'M READY FOR SPRING!
Remember, spring is on the way. We've got the cat in the house, and she's using a little box, and only the birds and squirrels outside, to feed.
Sorry about the paths to feed your calves. In laws used to have a farm with a few head; no more. They were 1 1/2 hours west of us, and were hit hard by every storm.
We used to live in Downingtown, PA. I miss it a lot.
Stay warm and good luck.
I just need to get hubby to use 4WD tractor to make a path to the calves. It's starting to blow some supposed to be more after lunchtime. PA is a beautiful state. I was born in NC and lived in Okinawa, MA, and NY while dad was in USAF. I remember the SNOWS in Rome NY :)
Oh yea!! I'm in Calvert County Md. As you say it is a white out. I have not seen snow like this since I was a little girl. It just keeps coming. DH and I were on vacation in Savannah and got home just in time for the last storm, actually crossed the Potomac River bridge on 301 in the storm. Scared me to death. My dogs are going nuts cause they have no where to go. Had to dig them out an area to squat. I'm pretty much in the same situation as "waterlily" Now lets hear from "clawton"
Boy, I bet you miss the Savannah weather right now. My daughter lives in Columbia, SC, and called to see if we were snowbound again.
Hate thinking about you driving over the Potomac River Bridge in this mess. Glad you made it home safely.
So sorry about your dogs; it's tough on them, isn't it?
Is 'clawton' from MD also?
Stay warm and good luck with the storm. Stay safe out there.
Yes, I'm here and we have more snow than we would like!!!! I'm in Carroll County Md.
Sadly, I'm afraid that you MD cuties will have these snows yearly. If the climate continues to change, the FL cuties might have some snow, too.
I'm in Maryland, and This is our second Major snowfall in less than a week. We got about 34" of snow over the weekend, and now we are supposed to get 10 to 20 more out of this storm. Did you get by the weekend storm?? My big question is....where are we going to put all this mess! My arms are now, too sore to lift the shovel high enough to pile more snow on top of the walls of snow I built over the weekend! LOL! Nevermind the weight of the snow on the slightly pitched roofs of the additions to the house.
I am not a winter person, and I have always said that SNOW, COLD and WIND four letter words....and right now, I'm sick to death of hearing them! LOL!
Yes, we had the last snow and several others before that. Ours is not nearly as deep as yours, but it paralyzes the city when it snows.
My DH has been shoveling parts of the Florida room roof, to prevent the build up and possible leaks.
Spending my childhood in NYC helps me put our snow in perspective, and realize how little we really do have in comparison. Thought the snow had ceased about an hour ago, but it's begun again.
Some of the schools were open, but now have closed, so parents are worried about where the children are located. Some are being kept at school, and others are being bussed home. Of course there are accidents everywhere.
So glad the power is still working!
Oops. First line is ...'white-out' snow with...
My apologies if this should have been in personals. Would love to see if anyone is nearby and experiencing this blizzard.
I don't mind it's posted here. I rather see in personals real personal post. And the weather isn't that personal to me.*
