I use either a light weight denim, or poplin. I also use a cut away stabilizer, that I leave on, cut apart with pinking shears then just sew on with a normal zig zag. Satin stitch would make them too stiff. The color change is just to make clipping jumps easier

I am using Font Engine in Embird. I can make them any size I want..you just have to adjust the density down on the smaller fonts.
