I am sorry I think I am dense. I asked someone about this in projects and they said I needed to get an "iron on transfer paper" Now I am completely lost! Please tell me in simple terms exactly what I need to get and what is the best type of printer to have for it (I will be purchasing a new printer in the near future so best if I have the right one) My current printer's ink cartridges cost me $60 to replace and after 3 purchases I could have a brand new printer!

For those that are interested in getting this fabric, either in Australia or overseas, can type Printing on fabric into their browser and you will get quite a choice of websites telling you where to buy this and also instructions on how to do it.You will also find information on how to treat the fabric with Bubble Jet 2000 and where to purchase it, if you prefer to take the cheaper option and do it yourself. Please, read the instructions on the bottle. You will find if it is done correctly, a bottle will go a long way.

I used transfer paper some ten years ago - that isn't a method I would recommend. You have to remember to print a mirror image on the transfer paper, but worse, the final result is far stiffer than printing directly on prepared fabric sheets - what I did as soon as those were available. But the material wasn't the finest weave I've ever seen. Don't know where to buy Bubblejet 2000 - heard of it - should try the internet. That might turn out to be not only cheaper but also you can choose your own fabric.
Have fun!

You don't need any special software to print pictures or photos on fabric.
You need the special fabric impregnated with something like Bubble jet 2000. You can buy these ready made.
And you need a normal printer, not a laser printer. If you haven't got the image in your computer, scan it in and print it out.
As simple as that.
Do follow the instructions on the fabric sheets.
What do you mean by digitize photos? Do you want the photos turned into embroidery designs?

Ricky, what is a normal printer? I have an HP just purchased. It scans faxes has individual ink cartridges instead of just just black and color. Becky

hello all,
i am new to the site and aren't you all having fun?
great to see. i think it is going to be useful because i live in a regional area in Western Australia and work fulltime so have no time to ask anyone embroidery or sewing questions or get to workshops. this will be good.
re the printing onto fabric - it is so easy. i did one for my daughter's family in Texas (exchange family) and printed colour photos of our meeting them and photos of both families who love her dearly and are now friends.
i printed them in colour and the fabric panels are on paper which stiffens the fabric so it can go through the printer, and is pulled off after. it is amazing.
i am going to do one in sepia on cream now. this is taking off and other colours than cream are coming on.
any embroidery online or shop will sell or get in for you.
the other Cuties are right as to the type of printer.
enjoy
