Is it possible to resize the beautiful Embossed fonts, especially the Swan font. I can only use 100x100 (4x4). I have PE Design 7 but from what I have read, one should only resize at maximum 20%

In buzztools they say abot 10% is possible. and certainly no more than 20%. but I see meganne gave a very good explanation.

Just to clarify my very rushed answer.

Registration is purely the way the design is supposed to stitch out, eg a circle is supposed to be round but it could end up oval or skewed or could have big gaps in it (when enlarging)
or
(when reducing) it could end up so dense your machine would have problems stitching it and it would be really thick and horrible.

Some times altering the size can even change the sequence of the stitch out and the design will end up almost unrecognisable.

Some designs you can safely enlarge or reduce by 10-15% but a lot of designs just won't take size alteration at all as it ruins them.

There are so many factors that can affect the outcome, the stitch count, the density, the fill pattern, the push/pull compensation, all things that only the original digitiser can alter correctly.

It also depends on how good your software is.

There have been major improvements in home, embroidery software recently and many more things are possible to do automatically, that until now, digitisers would never have dreamed possible.

So you see, all you can do is try each design and make sure you do a test stitch before ruining a project.

If you are happy with the outcome, that is really all that matters.

I hope this helps, hugs n roses, Meganne

If you are just making the design bigger or smaller the limits are 10% smaller and 20% bigger or your risk the design not working. These are only a wise suggestion as it also depends on the design itself, stitch density etch. If you have digitising software that is able to adjust the stitch length and density then you can try resizing beyond these limits and of course you need to test sew first. I have the free version of Truesize 2006 and reduced a design by 30% with it and it worked well. Good luck, it is all part of the fun.

I see you have your answers. However; you could split the designs. I need to learn splitting myself...FIESTA ANYHOW ;D *2U

I know it is about 20% for normal embroiderydesigns, but I see Meganne has given you an answer and she is a great digitizer so I would follow her advice

Direct answer, no it would not be advisable as it would probably ruin the registration.

Thanx Maganne, I knew it would be so, but I was hoping there was a way. I presume only the digitiser of the designs would be able to change the dimensions. Oh dear..sigh...
