No matter with what colour the design starts, you'll recognise the shape of the part to be appliqued. That shape always has three stitch lines: a straight stitch placement line, a narrow zigzag that attaches the patch - you have to cut the material to size after this line - and then the satin stitch outline. This third line is the one you see in the finished embroidery. And this one does not have to come necessarily directly after the first two details on the patch may be embroidered first.
The red helicopter, #3070765, starts with the placement line - try that one first if you've got it. Once you've done one you'll know what to expect.
I forgot to place a ';' after 'two' in the last line of the first paragraph. That would have made it easier to read.

I really enjoy applique, may I suggest start with an easy applique design (one shape one fabric)
for your first go at it. Then the more complicated ones will be much easier when you have an idea what is going on, Enjoy!
Yolandita, Here is a good applique tutorial. I love applique & what u will need are some applique scissors or small sharp scissors to trim the fabric as close to stitching as possible. good luck *
Yes I thought that, but when i do the machine stich to check wher the design start on this particular applique it does the applique part almost to the end. (the helicopter), so I'm confuse. I guess I will take my chance. Thanks missy. Yolandita
There are instructions on applique on my site.
