I've allowed the classroom to participate and they have drawn on muslin with fabric crayons, I don't want to cover the art work up. I will be embroidering sayings, and the year, classroom teachers name and mascot etc... I'm just plain stumped... What do I do? Stipple around it? Do an outline on the artwork? Remember what I do will show up on the backside of the quilt if I sandwich everything. H-E-L-P....

Thank you. I got lots of ideas, now I've got to process them and decide what will work best. I will share when I'm done. :)

I added a comment under jrob's in the public section. Since you are not using batting and only flannel/fabric you may not need to do anything unles the squares are large.
By the way I saw this type of quilt on display at Cabella's sport store done in woven fabric and it was beautiful.

Yes, my squares are 10" which is rather large. Woven natural fabric does make a BEAUTIFUL rag quilt, but man, I'd hate to clean out the dryer after it has dried. hehehhe....

What if you just embroider thru the batting . This would hold it in place and the back would just be plain. Or visa versa. Sandwich the back and batting, X it, then add the front and sew your seams. It seems the x is really just to hold the batting in place as it usually doesn't reach the seam. let us know what you decide.

You should ask this on the public tab. That way more people will see it and you will get more suggestions.

Yes, I did that before I did this one, but got the same number of responses, but they were definitely good ideas, and I'm thinking on what to do.:) But I will share when I finish it. :)
