I also have Babylock. They are up to version 8. Have you tried going on the Bebylock site and updating your software? Also try working with your Babylock dealer for a deal on Palette 8. If you have been a good customer sometimes they will discount machines and software. The consolation is that the newest version does so much more (which is nice, but is still very hard on the budget). Best of luck to you.

I had heard that since Windows 7 was a 64 bit OS, that many of the software programs and periferals would not work with it, because they were all designed for the 32 bit OS. It really STINKS, since all the new computers have Windows 7 loaded on them!

This past summer, Dell had a "deal" where you could order a new computer with the XP OS, for an additional $150. I took that "deal"! It was worth the extra money to have the OS I could use! I also believe that most places where you can buy computers, will sell XP, and for a Fee, wipe the hard drive clean and load XP onto the new computer. My Mother-In-Law has done this twice! She Paid a pretty good amount to have it done, but it was worth it to her, not to have to replace everything else.

Well here goes I recently contacted Dell VIA the internet and did a live chat with them and they said the only way you can get windows XP on a computer with them is is you get a certain Desk Top Model. The man said they no longer offer XP on a lap top. I feel your pain if I upgrade to a new compute I will have to buy a new reader writer box, because I have a Simplicity Smart Box and they no longer make them or an update for windows 7. I feel your pain believe me. So no matter how we look at it we gotta spend some more extra bucks for our hobby. Hope you can find something that works for you. Sara

It is ashame they will not be doing an update for the software. Viking has done an upgrade for 4D to download so that it can be used with windows 7. However, I have not heard whether it worked. Since I don't need it right now I have not downloaded it. AND, I don't know whether go ahead and do it or if it will interfer with what I have.

I too have a Baby Lock machine and using Master Works Lite. Could not afford the full version on a fixed income. Guess I may have to keep my old computer with XP. For as long as it last.

You should have bought Windows 7 professional as it contains an application that allows you to run your xp programs on a VIRTUAL XP platform.

When dealing with Embroidery software it is always wise to ask many questions before upgrading your Windows Operating System. Perhaps you may be able to upgrade to 7 professional but I would check to see if V6 will run on Virtual XP or if it is incompatible because of the difference between 32 & 64 bit versions.

I hope this helps, sorry I couldn't suggest more.
Hugs and roses, Meganne

We recently bought a new laptop with windows 7 and decided to invest in the professional version so we could do just that if I ever put my embroidery stuff on the laptop.
