Martine, thank you for this article. I have so much to relate with this one and what you and Meg feel. Love,Yoriko
Martine thank youfor pointing this out. It was very interesting to read. I knew that is cost many hours to digitize a design. I'm very grateful for the designs that are posted by Cuties in DBC and hope to learn digitizing one day myself.
WELL I FOR ONE WANT TO SAY A BIG THANK-YOU FOR HELPING ME OUT WITH MY ROPE PROJECT MEGANNE & IF YOU START TO CHARGE I WOULD BE GLAD TO PAY YOU. I FEEL THANK-YOU JUST ISN'T ENOUGH BUT THATS ALL I CAN SAY FROM WAY OVER HERE IN CANADA.GOD BLESS YOU AS YOU BLESS OTHERS :):)CAROLYN
Now if you had told me you were from Canada, I might just have had a little request from you. I was absolutely gobsmacked by the AWESOME Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise, Banff, Whistler, Tyrrell Museum, the Sulphur Springs et al, aaah, such beautiful memories I even saw a real life Grizzly
Hugs n rose, Meganne
A very small insight into digitising, I find creating applique designs so much easier than fully filled designs.
I tend to be up all night digitising when I have many requests to fill. Sometimes I am crawling into bed at 7 am, I may sleep until midday or 2pm then I start all over again.
Somehow, I manage to get the clothes washed and ironed, meals cooked, cleaning done, but our home has definitely suffered since I started digitising as I just can't wait to get back to the current project.
Some designs take me 2 or three days, some much, much longer and I am always grateful to have someone test stitch them for me so I can keep digitising.
I only digitise designs for my Cute family, and because I don't charge for them I can sometimes be overwhelmed with requests. Sometimes I forget people's requests, not on purpose, but because I didn't have a system in place to be able to find emails sent to me and if someone just writes the request here at Cute, I may not even see it.
Tonight I am tired and I'd really love to go to bed but I still have 9 designs to digitise, not including one for my own Grandson's school logo.
Sometimes I really wish there were two of me, but then it isn't always this busy..... it seems to come in cycles and there may be weeks when I don't have any requests from Cuties at all. That's when I start digitising something I have had in my mind for a while, or I get some of my own projects done.
Sometimes I take a little break and come to Cute to answer some posts and try and catch up with my Cute family.
I love digitising, it combines all my interests in art, photography, sewing, computers and being able to make others happy.
Next week MIL is having cataract surgery so I will be even busier looking after her and putting drops in her eyes every two hours and taking her to see the surgeon every morning. The following week I have the final surgery (hopefully), following my double mastectomy.
Life is great, I am happy and it feels good to be needed for something.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
I agree, Meganne, applique is a quick method of getting colour on your material and a fast way to digitise, and even so that professional digitiser uses at least a day.
I don't get as many requests as you do - but I, too, love digitising and my laptop has my attention most of the day, not the housework - and sometimes it shows!!
But just like you I'm happy helping others.
I hope the cataract operation of your MiL goes well - I had one in September - I found the idea of someone cutting in my eye very scary - all went well, but there might always be ongoing health factors that complicate matters.
I hope your surgery will be the very last in a row!!
Wish you well, hugs and roses to you. Martine
Meganne, Thanks for giving us a glimpse into your passion for digitising and busy days. All the best for your MIL's operation, not forgetting your own surgery. Let's us know how you are!
MEGANNE: Thanks for all that you do for the people on this site. Such giving people like you is what makes this site so special. I wish you both well with the surgeries.
God bless you both.
