I have XP on my old desktop and W7 on my laptop. After a short learning curve, I love W7. I set up my Desktop and external harddrive to use as a server through my wireless router. Now I can easily back-up my files to the external drive. When I have it all turned on, my DH calls it my Sim City. Good luck with your transition.

I have a new laptop with windows 7, and don't like it. I keep going back and using the one with xp. Maybe I'm just not giving myself time to work with it. It's always hard to make changes.

I have xp & have been afraid to update to windows 7 because I always have trouble learning the new system. Best of luck & hope you do not lose anything. *

I have windows 7 on my new laptop and I don't like it at all I don't understand how it works and don't have time to play with it to learn. I can put a design on it and take one off that is all.

There should have been a program to use to transfer all your old files to. That is what I did and it worked fine. Windows 7 is very very different and hard to get used to. I have had mine for 2 months and still cant figure some things out. It works completely different from XP. It does however also have some nice features. Good luck. Hugs Lisa

Hi,
if it is not too late - I always save all important files on a external harddisk - so I can prevent everything - technicans, crash down - whatever. Here the external harddisk is going to be not too expensive. Also some files I save on CD before I allow anybody to do anything on my PC. A USB-tick is also a good solution.
I hope you will have all your files again and not too frustrated and sad. I can't imagine to loose all my files of embroidery!!??!! thousands - horrible imagination.

Blessings
Baerbel

Hi Sandra, we have just bought a Hewlett Packard TouchSmart with all the bells and whistles etc. etc. and it comes with Windows 7 - so I'll make sure that the technician that is coming to install all of the old files etc. is aware of what you have gone through - thanks for the warning.

Love and blessings Chris

Hi Raelene, I too have XP and have just bought a new computer - waiting for a technician to come and put all the old files onto the new one. We will have to wait until after Easter due to other "happenings" in the family.

Love Chris
