Hi, I live just north of brisbane and we were watching Uliu come towards the coast. I must be very frightening. Glad you have your power back and can embroider again and that you are all safe.

Becky
Hi Becky thankyou,Australia. For us life is back to normal, many are still cleaning up. Today i made a bunny and also managed to sit in on a patchwork class,
glad to read you're okay!!hope everything will be okay and repaired soon!
Hi,thankyou, power is on in our area now,so today i can sew[embroider]. We live close the beach,i am realy pleased that we did not buy on the waterfront they have had a real mess to cleen up,all hands have been on deck. Hugs
So glad you are all save. Here by us in
South Africa, especially down at the tip in Cape Town, we do not know Cyclone's, Hurricanes, even earth quakes. The closest we get is quite bad rain storms, but not that bad that we have to move from our houses. I hope all gets back to normal soon.
Hugs and Gods blessings to you
Marietta
Thankyou Marietta,it sounds like you live in a very nice part of the world.hugs Heather
Just Googled and found these, very interesting!!!
Thankyou Megs for the links, yes it does look interesting,i am going to an enbroidery retreat just south of Gladstone QLD. They have asked all that are going if there is anything that they would like to learn. One of the ladies have requested to be taught Shadow work,i am so loooking forward to this. cheers Heather
Glad you are safe, it had the potential to take many lives and thankfully it didn't.
Shadow work is when you sort of do a satin stitch on the wrong side of sheer fabric and only the side stitches are visible on the right side with the shadow of the satin stitching visible through the material. This is hand sewing though and I can't imagine how it would be possible to achieve this effect on a machine, so perhaps it means something totally different in machine sewing.
Have you tried Googling your question?
hugs n roses, Meganne
a Marvelous description Meganne. I used to do it by hand too, and could not describe it better. Have also not seen it done on a machine. Ever thought of trying to digitise some?
Thankyou Megs,Airlie Beach have a lot of damage, many boats have sunk and they still do not have power. Gosh shadow work sounds like it woud take a long time to do by hand enbroidery. cheers Heather
Heather dear; so glad you were not harmed. Don't know how to do shadow work on the embroidery machine, but perhaps some of the experts out there will know and instruct us.
*4u!
Jacqueline
