The clear gloss that I use comes from a craft store such as Michael's or Hobby Lobby in their paint section.

Very pretty! A question -- how do you waterproof it, so that the stiffening doesn't come out when you use it as a coaster?
I spray my coasters after they have dried with a clear gloss. Because they are made up of thread any liquid will soak into it.I use one of my coasters all of the time in my sewing room. And I have white counters in here and I haven't had a problem with them.

I had done nothing to mine and it received a spill. Washed it, put it back into a solution I made from WSS scraps and water. The clear gloss is a good idea
