Oh this is a good one. I was brought up being offered a wide selection of food. I remember sheeps head broth, pigs heads, pigs trotters (feet), brains, sweetbreads, tongue. The first time I was given straw mushrooms I thought they were eyeballs. I dont like tripe, my mum and her parents LOVED it and I seem to remember them eating gallons of the stuff. Some of you might think my selection is unusual but I am reading about some foods I have never thought of eating.
Frog's leg, it tates like chicken. It was that bad, but I would not buy it to cook it.
Well i'm from Canada and yes i have eaten our national animal the beaver and the moose. My grandfather was a trapper and i had no idea until i got older and moved to the city that is was not normal to eat all these wild animals... oooooooo well. They tasted good then and back then we didn't ask " whats for dinner". We just ate what was on our plate and said thank you.
hugs lee
I've eaten some pretty strange things. Some knowing but most not. Octopus eyes (not knowing), I thought they were olives and I was very, very young. Ostrich meat (red, lean meat) and eggs. Chocolate covered ants, beef tounge, calamari (squid), eel, porcupine, moose, deer (this Calif. girl now lives in Canada)squirel, rabbit and rattle snake.
Ostrich meat is very common in South Africa, much healther than other red meat, less fat.
Well the funniest thing i ate was choc. covered moose dropping MMMMMMMMMMMMM very good:):)Carolyn
I took a trip to Japan, need I say more. urchin, squid, raw, sushi the real stuff.
I loved Japanese food but didnot enjoy the raw egg with noodles and wasabi. I like raw egg as mayonnaise... I didnot like the texture of the egg white but I ate it
I have eaten frog legs, raccoon, possium, rabbit, squirrel, beef tongue, squirrel brains with eggs, pigs feet. I know there must be more but can't think of them right now. Mildred

Kangaroo, escargot (snails) and some weird fruit from the tropics that I can't remember the name of.
I think we are the only country in the world that eats our national animals which are on our coat of arms. Eg Kangaroo and Emu!
Love and blessings Chris
So is it true about Kangaroo Chris... everything tastes like chicken? ha ha
Hi Teri,
Kangaroo is actually a very lean red meat. Tastes great, just like steak.
Love Chris - by the way love your new avatar Rose.
I have eaten squirrel, frog legs, chocolate covered ants, and beef tongue is delicious! When I was a kid my Dad loved brains and eggs! I don't think I was ever brave enough to try that though.
I L*VE Nathans "Frog Legs" B'klyn, NY...FIESTA Not weird thou ;D *2U
Oh heavens... I don't have anything to add to this posting. I eat with my eyes, so if it doesn't look good, it ain't entering my mouth. lol

Delicatessen in Botswana is Mopani worms. Can be eaten dried or fried. Highly nutritional! Mopani worms live on Mopani trees.
Lamb Brain. I promised I would at least try it. I did, I didn't like it.
Nothing exotic--beef tongue sandwiches.
A real Tongue ??? as in tongue in your mouth ??? in a sandwich Oh noooooo you cannot be serious ewwww !!! thats worse than chicken feet LOL LOL
When I was growing up, for family events we would frequently have bratwurst and beef tongue sandwiches. That was a legacy of my German/Czech ancestry.
