Thank you for all the good wishes.
We drove North through Schleswig Holstein in Germany and Jutland in Denmark, mostly flat as a pancake, lovely but well-known type of landscape. Next day ferry to the south coast of Norway - what a difference that made. 200 km of winding roads uphill, downhill, tunnels and bridges took us to Stavanger on the west coast; breathtaking scenery, beautiful albeit cold weather, sunlight on the waves in numerous fjords. Automatic transmission and cruise control would have been useful, missing that it meant shifting gears and playing with the foot peddles all the way to keep an even speed - I loved every minute of it.
Today DH is off to see a museum with both daughters (daughter #1 flew in from Germany and arrived couple of hours later than we did) and two GDs, but I'm taking a morning off.
I'll hope to make a few impressive pictures and show them later.
Well it looks like you are already off to Norway by now. Hope it was a safe and enjoyable one. Have a great visit and give us pictures so we can enjoy Norway from a far!
Martine, have a lovely visit with your family.
Enjoy Hugs Yvonne
Wish I could go with you and visit my best friend. She lived outside of Oslo (Hollmenkollen)
Have a great time. We will miss you while you are gone.
Enjoy yourself - we will miss you - I hope you can visit - but I doubt you will. Hehehe!
Dear Martine,
Have a wonderful visit, and I'll pray for good travel for you. Hope you are not affected by the volcano in Iceland, still.
Stop by when you can, for a visit, but most of all enjoy your trip.
Dear Martine, have a safe trip and great times there!
Love,
Yoriko
Oh Mops you must enjoy it. This is one of the countries on my bucket list. Do share some photos with us and ENJOY it
I'm so lucky, their national holiday is during our stay and people seem to wear their regional costumes. I'm so looking forward to that. And enjoying the impressive landscape and seeing my granddaughter.
Your country is on my wish list, has been since I was 8 years old and saw the first movie of my live, one of the Kruger National Park. Maybe next year?
