You can also use stiffy stuff it will make it as hard as a rock. I make cloth dolls out of quilt backing stuff it and use a paint brush I put several layers of stiffy stuff one it letting it dry between coats and then paint it then I put a final coat of stiffy stuff over the paint when it dries it looks like porcelin.lots of fun. hugs

This sounds great. Where do you get it, like AC Moore or Michaels? Thanks Arlene
If you are making an item that is ment to stand stiff like a coach or swan or such and you don't want to launder it as such. I have used wood glue to form an ordinary doily into a hat by wetting the doily with wood glue and shaping it over the top of a coffee jar lid to form the crown and held in place with a rubber band smooth the brim of the hat out all around and have it on a plastic or glass surface so you can remove it easy allow to dry glue is white when it goes on and clear when dry bonnet can be decorated with ribbon and flowers and can be filled with lavander and tule then can be glued to the back and a ribbon added to be able to hang up on wall.be careful when buying wood glue there is a yellow one as well don't use that. in Australia the white glue is adquahere or just wood glue. once dry easy cleaned by dusting with clean dry paint brush.
I never thought of using this sounds great, I'll have to try it. Thanks Arlene
you could always use liquid fabric stiffener. makes it very firm ask me how I know LOL but great for bowls and things because it dries clear.
Arlene, I prefer my FSL really soft - but if you like yours stiff - as PSSSST says, just don't rinse out all the WSS - if it is a basket, bowl or item that needs the extra stiffening and you have washed it out - just do it in reverse - dip some WSS in a bowl of hot water and then re-dip your item and dry it again. Good luck!
Just don't rinse it out thoroughly or if you have already rinsed it too much
dissolve wss scraps in water and dip it in the solution and let dry.
