just trying to get an idea of what people who are doing a lot of digitizing are using :) for software, what they like or wish was different.

I have Masterworks I. I love it! It is a bit expensive. There is a Masterworks II out that I would love to have, but since this is just a hobby to me, I can't see purchasing the new one. I would highly recommend Masterworks. I have seen Masterworks II and I know it would do everything you could want. Just depends on what you want to do and how much you feel you can spend. Hope all our answers help you decide.

I just peeked at the link. and i see they have a trial, so i may try that, but i did choke a little on the price ;)

maybe you can upgrade yours?
i would have to only consider the 'lite' version LOL!
thank you, i had not heard of this one.

I have had the software for over 3 years, but struggle with the computer. I am hoping that my husband (who is interested in making portraits of his 71 mustang) will teach me some basics. He has already figured out how to do more in 1 week than I have in 3 years.

Undecided,
It looks like you have had a lot of answers since I went to the store. I am finally back! Sorry it took so long. I got sidetracked with the plants I bought. Do you have a Janome machine since you have Customizer? Digitizer Pro does so much more than Customizer. It seems to me that it is difficult for a lot of people to get started digitizing if they do not have any background at all. I have found that it is much easier if you have someone to show you. From what I have read different digitizing program do pretty much the same things with a few specializations here and there. The trick is to find one that is your learning style. Some are more difficult to get started on. Digitizer Pro is pretty intuitive and easier to learn. Most of the programs are somewhat expensive. If you have a version of Digitizer it is cheaper to upgrade. I am going to send you a private message. I have an idea that might work for you.

Hi there I use Embird..
it comes with optional plug-ins :-
Love the iconizer as its adds a picture to your thumbnails of your designs :-)
love the fontengine as it allows you to use any font installed on your computer in many different options.
love studio where you digitize your designs, I find it very simple to use.. just having fun exploring the many options available.
also love the stitch simulator..
to be honest I am trying very hard to think of a part I dont like or could improve but hand on my heart I cannot :-)
Big hugs from London
Mooie xx

I can use any font too with PE Design. I think that any softwear is as good as the user

Sorry I cannot help yopu. I started embroidering late in my life and it is too late to start learning digitizing. I have enough designs to last me 3 lifetimes! Hope somebody will help you.

i use a old program that came with my machine. It's customizer 2000 by janome. It's old and doesn't have many options with it. But its ok for the simple designs i do. I would like something newer.

WOW! I have used some of your designs! i would have thought you were using fancy software! i have the janome customizer 10000, and i have fooled some with digitizing some kids art. But i want to be able to do some straight line work, and that is not so good with this software...as far as i have found.

Guess i am wondering if other software (that i can afford) is going to be any better,or if i will be throwing money away?

you may find this idea strange but i use the paint program on my pc (you know the one the kids love to play with and make and color pictures) i use it to make tags and many simple designs or i copy and paste a drawing to it and make it bigger or smaller or add a font to it and then i copy and paste that design to my janome customizer 2000 program and then i convert it to outline. Then i play with it from there. It's pretty simple to do. And doesn't cost me anything.

Lee, I have customizer as well but have never known how to use it. Will try fiddling around from your instructions and see what comes of it. Thank you Sally

thats great ,,, let me know.. i'm still fiddling too Sally....lol Maybe we can all pool together and work out all the bugs. I like to play with it. I was thinking on taking a class but customizer 2000 is too old for the class...lol
