Meg
I am so happy for you, one mans trash is anothers treasure. Aint that the truth.

Well, I didn't spend the night in the garage, but searching the net for attachments and refreshing my memory on Singer Vintage machines.
This one is "Supposedly" one of the best machines ever made by Singer.
A 201, which cost a phenomenal 18/17/6 that's 18 pounds, seventeen shillings and sixpence, when it was made, which back then when wages were only 10 shillings a week, was equivalent to 38 weeks wages and claims to be the most expensive machine ever made by Singer, being manufactured in Clydebank Scotland. Singer actually stopped manufacturing the 201 because it was too expensive to make!
So I have been further blessed that it is what it is.
The drawers contained very little excitement other than some needles, buttons and rubbish but all the manuals made great reading and I read each of them from cover to cover. It feels like an old friend as it is so very similar to the machines I used when I first started working at 14 years old, in a millinery factory.
I even remembered how to drop the feed dogs for darning and stippling.
Will have to wait to bring it inside though as it is badly weathered and needs a good clean and some new wheels.
I absolutely could not get to sleep last night and I was far more excited getting this grand old lady than when I got ANY of my embroidery machines.
Doesn't really make sense I ,unless you love Vintage things, and I think that happens more as we age and want to recapture our childhood memories. LOL!!!
Hugs and roses to you all and thank you for your lovely wishes.
Meganne
Oh if I were a betting person I would bet it will be in the house tonight no matter how late. I am so thrilled for you Meg, it is such a jewel. *
Hope you have great fun and happy sewing with your new machine
Meganne, we need an update. Did you spend the night in the garage playing with your new machine?
We can hear the excitement in your posting - good for you!
Great! Have you checked on line for any info regarding your machine? Here is a site I found while checking out my Mom's, which I inherited. It's what I learned on-just forwards and back. The knee control, which is still so much better than the foot. I even sewed my wedding dress on it. Now if I could just find a serviceman who makes house calls, since it is in a cabinet. Have fun. Jo

Swore I made this a link, good thing I looked again!
Not to late or Too COLD in the Garage after all Hugs Shazells
Ray just got home and we man/woman handled it inside the garage and I just had to plug it in and try it
*****IT WORKS***** Woohoo!!! and the cabinet is in great condition, I am so stoked I can't tell you.
Now I have to find room for it in the house as I just love sewing on these old machines.
Worse luck there weren't any attachments and I only found three bobbins, gosh and I gave a heap away to Pauline not long ago. It does have the original instruction manual and the manual for the motor. It is one of those models that has been converted to electric power by the addition of a motor.
I can't believe someone put this machine out on the street for rubbish collection and my great fortune that Ray's workmates spotted it and (thinking of me) they put it in their ute and now it is mine.
All those "forward this email and you'll receive a surprise" have finally brought me a long desired treasure.
Hugs n roses, Meganne
Lucky you, So will i or wont i give back some bobbins? Will let you stew on that one my friend for a few minutes. ... Ok times up yes i shall share :))))

Okay, fess up with how long you tested out the new machine and table. Congrats to your new family addition. Enjoy working with it. There is nothing like an olkd Singer, is there?
That's great. If you are like me, you may sew at least a little while in the garage. When I was a kid we moved into a house that had a garage and there was an old upright piano in it and I would sit out there with gloves on and learned to play it. Of course it was so out of tune it wasn't funny, but I did learn and still play to this day. (In the comfort of my own home of course heehee) Enjoy your new stand! God bless, Judy
That's what you tell us hee hee I bet we won't see you for a couple of days
I can imagine that you cannot wait until the morning to try your new toy. Congrats with the machine Meganne.
well you must be excited. hope Ray makes some pictures off you together with your Singer.hugs4you!
