For me too, because it allows to return to the original pictures with their colours, and sometimes how it stitch out.

Being as anal as I am - I have all mine alphabetically catalogued/dogologued (ha! ha!) sorry we have a commercial over here in New South Wales advertising a building equipment company and the Mascots are dogs and they always ask us to look at their DOGOLOGUE! instead of a Catalogue.
I always put the name of the design, where it came from and what hoop and how many stitches. Works for me!
