I used a medium weight cutaway under the fabric as by trial and error the first ones I did last year didn't launder well at all..they shriveled up like a prune when I used tearaway..the medium weight worked out much better.. I also hooped wss then placed the towel on top of that..These sew out just like appliqueing on a garment..The first stop is the placement stitch where you will line up the towel.then the outline stitch, next the tack down stitch..after that you trim up your fabrics and sew the remaining stops..there is another tack down stitch at the end and this is for the back piece tackdown on the backside of the towel..hope this helps..they are fun to make..and such a joy to give and receive as gifts..
Can I ask do you hoop tear away and then use the cutaway under the fabric and cut it with the fabric.
Thank you for your question. I have wondered about this, and about once they are stitched on the towel how they wash up?? All wrinkled or what? H&*
These are so easy to make and the reslut is always stunning so give it a try.
I'm hooked on towel hangers at the moment. They make great gifts for a new baby too.
I made one yesterday very easy. The link below will explain. I recommend you use 2 layers of tear away.
I hooped one layer and sat a scrap bit on top before putting down the tea towel.
Look in the link posted below and I think that will help you. Hope this helps. Welcome to Cute. I haven't made one myself as of yet but I plan on it in the near future. Good Luck.
