Hi there,
I love to use Rayon because the colors are so shiny. I had it for few years and never used because of breaking. At least I bought the threadholder from designsbysick and slow down the machine to the lowest speed - it works great! The threadholder prevents the thread from curling. It also works great for silk tread which is horrible to embroider for my Janome machine without this simple tool.
If you are gifted in some technical handcraft - you may create some by yourself .
But I use it only for designs on fabrics nobody would wash with more than 40° or FSL and acessoires. I think it is sometimes more soft than Poly. I also try to use a new needle. My upload of the elephant at DBC is done with Rayon - so pictures, wallhangers and so on are great with Rayon.
Hope sombody is interested in my experiences.

I love rayon thread and crazy about Robinson Anton. I have the Janome 1100 and don't have any thread breakage nor any of the problems with fading.
I made a baby quilt and have been told that the colors faded at the time I didn't know they faded so now I use mainly poly.
my machine goes ok with rayon but since it fades out with washing and most of the things I make are washable I use more poly than anything else.
I use nothing but poly. Tried a spool of rayon once and it kept breaking. Love the Metro brand thread - bought the 166 all color pack and LOVE it. Also bought their pre-wound bobbins and those are great too.
I like rayon thread, and do not have so many breakage, I always slow down to medium
I love rayon Ethan. You may need to adjust your tension as rayon will break a lot easier. try slowing your machine down as well when stitching. Good luck. :-)
My Viking doesn't like rayon, and I haven't sewn enough on my Brother to tell about it!. I personally like the fact that you can wash things with some bleach in the water with Polyester and you can't with rayon. Hugs, Judy
I love my rayon thread!! I use Robinson Anton. I have used it on towels which I clorax when washed, never has my thread faded. My machine does not like poly thread, so I guess try different threads to find out what your machine works best with. Each machine seems to be different even with the same brands. H&*
I myself do not care for it, #1 my machine does not like it. #2 If you use it on something like clothing that is washed often it tends to fade. I have a set of Maderia Rayon I bought and I cannot use it. Because of breakage. So I wasted $100. on thread I cannot use, I bought it right after I bought my machine and now I am stuck with it. But a lot of people love it. It is one of those things that you just gotta try it for yourself. I would only buy a spool or 2 to see how it does. I use Metro also and love it and the price is great even when it is not on sale. Sara
I use nothing but Poly thread & right not Metro has a great bargain on their threads
Hi! I did some designs in rayon, they worked out well. Problem is, I washed them in a load with a little bit of bleach and the color faded a lot. I do all my designs in poly thread now and have washed them with some bleach and the stay bright and the color doesn't fade. I switched to all poly thread now. Suzanne
I started out with rayon thread. After hearing that poly holds up better through washing(possibly bleaching), I tried some. Then I got a great deal on a set of poly thread, so mainly use that, as I do a lot of children's clothes and quilts. I do use the rayon for things that will not be laundered a lot and FSL. My babylock Ellageo has not balked at a thread type yet! There are even items that I will use both on, if the colors are right.

I've been using rayon thread on embroidery machines since 1993, used it for free embroidering on a regular sewing machine before that. I like the shine. Only one machine, my Brother 190D (stand aolone embroidery) does not like every brand, though Madeira is OK.
