Thanks for asking the question. I love using varigated thread, but hadn't used it yet to do embroidery.
Thankyou, Shazells, for asking this question. I haven't thought about it before but I do like all the answers.... so, thank you, to all you members who posted answers, too.
I think, also, that it would depend largely on what you are using the FSL for, e.g. FSL jewellery would, I think, look better with variegated thread top and bottom, FSL doileys would look great with a solid base in a matching colour, and I like the idea of using black as a silhouette, too, but you'd need to have the tension exact so that no colour showed on the underside, wouldn't you? So far, with all my FSL I've always used the same thread, so this is all throwing a new challenge to me.
One point occurred to me .... if a person chose to use a different colour in the bobbin for FSL, then you'd need to at least use the same brand and weight of thread, yes??
AlmaG.
Depending on the design you can go really bold and use black it will make it look like a silhouette
That is the fun thing with fsl you can play with it to see what you like
even if you use the variegated in the bobbin it will not match exactly and sometimes variegated thread stitches out in stripes instead of random
Hi there, I don't use the veriegated thread on the bobbin, I go for one of the colours and use that.
Hugs Yvonne
I agree with all the ladies, use the variegated at the bottom.
Shazells, every time I do FSL I use the same thread in the top and the bobbin. You will love the look of the variegated in most cases on FSL - but it does have a tendency to look striped, too.
I always fill my bobbins with variegated too when using variegated on top.
Shazells I use the verigated on the bobbin and it is beautiful looks the same on both sides.I just did some western hat's from Yeriko and they turned out really nice. Hugs Lena Mae
