I am a crochet lover, have to have something in my hand while sitting in front of the tv at night so I've made quite a few things that I mostly give away and as gifts.

Last year I decided, while my hands and eyes are still working, to make sets for each of my grand children, for their homes when they marry.

I had stored them in paper gift bags but was told that they should be in acid free paper and searched for some in Michaels and Joannes but without luck. So I asked one of the women in Joanne's and she advised me to use 100% cotton to wrap the sets.

I bought a nice patterned material and made these bags to store each set. I also took pictures of myself presenting a piece to each grand child for when they finally open the bags.

I've done sets for four of the grand children and will begin a set for the fifth soon, but then this year, God Willing, I'll have two new grand children and will continue to make these sets for each new grand child.

Hi Dolly Can you adopt me too! I did that for my nieces. I made christmas decorations every year to give away and always put one aside for the nieces in a box. When they went out on their own, I gave them the boxes too. They had ready made homemade decorations to fill their own christmas tree. Now I have the embroidery I can be even more creative. Thanks Suzanne

Oh Dolly what a great idea. You are a wonderful Grandma, how I would love to have something that was hand crochet by my Grandmother

I believe you would be better off with archival acid-free paper as well. I also have crocheted for years and have many doilies. My grandmother's doilies were kept in a cedar chest and the wood oils have stained them. So obviously don't store in a wooden drawer or chest touching the wood. There are many internet sites that sell the acid-free paper and archival boxes. You can try Amazon, I know I saw some there. But I've never seen any in Joann or Michaels either.

Dolly, what a wonderful idea! I'm not sure about the 100% cotton fabric, though. This is where I get the archival paper for storing my quilts. I have some quilts that my great great aunts made and I have kept them as pristine as the day I got them.

I'm pretty sure you can get a dozen sheets for about $10 US shipped.
You may be ok with the fabric, I just have never heard that.
You have some very lucky grand children.;)
