Anyone liked a design so much, that they bought it twice? I have. The question is, can I give it to someone else now since I bought it duplicated? Senior moments.

I understand everything people have said about this situation. BUT I can't see how you can't give a design to someone when you have PAID for it. That's not sharing..you paid for it twice, once for you and once for friend. I, too, would contact the site & ask about it. They should have a record of your paying for it twice. Also agree with Meganne that you should let us know the site if they don't either send you another design or allow you to gift the second one.

Yes I have bought a disc twice(memory card), from an embroidery dealer shop. Then given it as a gift, to a friend that also does embroidery. And my daughter has often bought memory cards for me as gifts. But I have never bought , twice on the internet. Hugs Yvonne

I have, more than once, luckly the companies sent me an E-mail notifying that I already have bought the designs to go to my account and downloaded again if I need it. Embroidery Lybrary, Secret of Embroidery and Stitch Delight, so you see you are the only one. I have double sewing patterns too.

I think we all have done this. I now try to keep a log of what I have so I don't repeat myself. Unfortunately, I still have senior moments because I have TOO MANY designs. But I still buy more. Yes, I am addicted.

I believe that you should contact the digitiser with proof of purchase of the duplicate design purchases and ask if you could buy something else in place of the second one.
Failing that, ask if could you gift or sell the second design if you notify the digitiser of the purchaser/recipient's name and emad?

If they say no to both questions, and offer no solution but "tough luck", then please make sure you broadcast their name here so that other Cuties will be aware of the digitisers lack of interest in their customers.

Hi there
I have done this many times on the Dainty stitches site and did so again yesterday.. because at the moment they have some extremely cheap combo packages
and when i checked through my sets I had bought prior I already had 6 out of the 20 sets in this package, so I think is the cost still a good price for the 14 sets i dont have.. to me yes.
some sites do offer a system letting you know if you have purchased that set before,
But I am sorry the onus is on you the buyer to check before purchase. You could email the digitizer and explain and they may offer another set to the same value, although they dont have to.
If they do this would be seen to be fantastic customer support, if this happens please let us cuties know.. so we can give praise where praise is deserved.
p.s. May I just add, please do not share the designs with anybody, there are no exceptions
Big hugs from London

Dear Angie,
I refund the money or exchange with another when people buy designs duplicated from me. I believe the owner's site would be glad to do the same for you.
Love,
Yoriko

Yoriko you are so sweet. In this case it is not about the money but the legality to
able to make someone else happy.

daisy530 by daisy530 25 May 2010

This sounds like the best remedy to me. The site owner should be happy to email to your gift recipient or send you another design.

As a licensed instructor, I believe that you can purchase designs and then share them as long as you only share the extra ones you buy. For instance, if I want to teach a certain item with a emb.design, I have to purchase a design for each student to make it legal. so So If you have one extra, you can give to someone or even sell it.
Check on E-bay, people are selling design sets all the time. it's ok.

Thanks. I am not a licensed instructor at least not in sewing or embroidery. I did pay it for it twice and want to give one away. Of course I then would delete it from my computer.

mpo14011 by mpo14011 25 May 2010

NO, YOU CAN'T!If you are an instructor you need to get permission to use those files for your students. You CAN NOT GIVE AWAY or SELL, the extra ones you have. ONLY BECAUSE PEOPLE SELL THEM ON E-BAY DOES NOT MAKE THEM LEGAL DESIGNS!

crafter2243 by crafter2243 25 May 2010

So this means you could never give a present to another embroidery hobbist as a surprise? Whenever I ordered designs I never saw a place where you could enter another e-mail for the recepient. I can buy two books and send one somewhere else. I can even give it away after reading it. Strange.

mpo14011 by mpo14011 25 May 2010

You can let the person whom you order the designs from that you would like to give it away as a present. They will more then likely give you permission to do so. But you must let them know.

meganne by meganne 25 May 2010

I have purchased many designs to 'gift' to other people but I have always written to the digitiser and told them I was purchasing it/them as a gift for someone else and requested if they could forward my purchase to the person I have bought the gift for.

I never actually receive the designs myself unless I really like it/them and decide to purchase a second one for me.

One nice thing about Embroidery Library, is that a note comes up letting me know if I already bought the designs. I wish all the sites did that, and YES, I have bought the same design twice.

Yes they do that and I would have order twice from them too if they didn't tell me that I already own the design.

anne55 by anne55 25 May 2010

I'd love Embroidery Library for this alone! There's no telling how much money they've saved me because I have tried to order duplicates, or triplicates, of the same designs before and this has saved me. I sincerely wish all websites did this for their buyers.

alexgrandma by alexgrandma 25 May 2010

This is a great feature of the site!

mary51 by mary51 25 May 2010

I have saved o lot of money too, Thank you to Embroidery Library, Secret of Embroidery and i am not to sure about Stitch delight i know for sure that you can go to your account and see what you already have.

karenjay by karenjay 25 May 2010

My problem occurs when I buy the same design from different sites - for instance the same designer:
at their own website.
from secretsof,
from oregonpatchworks.

Nope, sorry. That would be a violation of copyrights. If you had paid for it and had it directly sent to someone it would be ok but since you have it on your computer it's a no no. Maybe you can get the site to exchange it for you. Good Luck.
