You got alot of ideas. I also need ideas for gifts for men in nursing homes. Thanks for any help.
Hello, you didn't mention how young he will be or what his hobbies are or if he likes sports. I saw a cute towel topper here on cuties that you stitch in the towel, add designs like golf, football, fishing, hunting, whatever he likes on it. If he likes computers I've also made a memory stick holder for one of my grown sons using out doorsy material, I've stitched out lovely sayings and added small pics and framed them for another son, my youngest got a hand tied no sew fleece throw using fleece of his favorite fottball team. I know it's June but he'll still have it when winter comes along or you could buy a premade throw and add designs to that. You could make a remote control organizer for his favorite chair or his spot on the couch. If he likes tools, I've also seen ith tool roll ups for wrenches or tool belts. Hope someone can use some of these ideas!

I hope you tell us what you decide to do/make and if you make something to post it in projects ;)
I have been making koozies with fun things emb. on them. I use insul-brite between the fabric which helps keep the canned beverage cold.
A nice set of towels with his monogram, or a bathrobe with his initials
A kitchentowel and teatowel set with "King of the BBQ" on it.
I like the BBQ apron idea! First I thought about a set of embroidered handkerchiefs. We are celebrating my son's b'day today. I think I'll go get an apron and do something on that! Thanks for the post. Nancy
My son's birthday is also in June and I have been stumped on what to send him. Hope you don't mind me taking some of these great suggestions for his present.
A loose leaf folder and make a cloth cover with an embroidery on front with some pages inserted and a clothe pencil case with ebroided eyelets to fit the holes on the folder and a picture and or name on it. You could embroider something like (THE STORY OF MY LIFE) and you could add plastic insert pages or laminated embroided pages with headings like . (IN MY YOUNGER DAYS) (MY FAMILY) (MY TRAVELS) (FAMILY HISTORY) and so on. And add some pens to pencil case and some white out.
I know that this is not home-made but when all else fails, a gift certificate from his favorite hardware store such as Ace or even a Wholesale store such as Sam's would let him choose what he wants. My guys would rather have a gift certificate so they can go get a tool or electric gadget for the yards. My son can spend the day in a hardware store just looking.
you could always make and heat/ice pack and embroider something you know he likes on it. I think these are always a big hit for anyone.
I have ordered the photo coffee mugs from walmart, and the photo mouse pads.
I have made key fobs, there are many kinds out there.
Of course the old stand by a quality heavy tee shirt/sweatshirt/hoodie with his favorite sport/animal/hobby on it.
Tickets to his favorite event sports/concerts.
If he is a reader a book with a bookmark.
If he has a lot of music CD's you could make a CD case.
Gift card holder with a gift card to his favorite store or restaurant fleet farm/car quest - olive garden/outback.
Manly designs on a set of coasters.
Monogrammed hankerchiefs.
A bbq apron is what i did several times for a men too. but last time i embroidered a black scarf with the embossed embroidery of the first letter of the man's name.and if you don't want to embroider something. I bought my HB some time ago a big cup, I ordered this one with his picture on it .here are kind of printshops you can order these if you send them the picture. It was a succes. So perhaps an idea?
I have been embroidering aprons for BBQ's or workshop if that suits. My SIL is into rugby league so embroidered him a towel of his favourite team colors and he loves it. Sally
Mary, first of all - what is your brother's favorite hobby or sports event? Have you thought about an ITH design? How about a golf towel? A set of dish towels for his kitchen? A magnet for his fridge? A FSL Keychain?
