I was given a magazine picture and asked to copy it. The dress was in brown satin and the overdress in crushed gold (I used the wrong side of the fabric as it was more burnished looking).

The hem is straight - it looks all wonky in the picture because of the way the little girl is standing (better at sewing than picture taking!!!)
