I have some too, two blouses a dress, a quilt, and some painting to finish.
Wow,am I ever there. I have a whole bag of started things but just start something new and the old ones sit. I AM going to do them(some day)! I feel better though after reading all the responses cause I know I'm not the only one.
well lets all get to it and every time we finish one post ot on the site for every one to see just see howmany we can finish you know you will not want every one else to finish one and you don't I have a dozen or two sitting here on my sewing table that I keep shoving out of my way.
Hugs Lenamae
WELL I AM FEELING MUCH BETTER AS I AM OBVIOUSLY PART OF A GROUP OF TALENTED AND BUSY PEOPLE !!!!! I HAVE DECIDED NOT TO FIGHT IT BUT GO WITH THE FLOW AND START THE NEXT PROJECT!!! hee hee
I have many projects left undone . Life just seems to call me away. When the little ones come in I just forget about projects, hugs are so much more fun.
For machine sewing, many, many I have promised and have only started. Emb are along the same lines! I have 2 afghans in the works in crocheting and 1 in Knit! Beadwork I am up to date on. Computer, I am never up to date on it! Hugs, Judy LOL!!!
For machine embroidery/sewing, only 1 unfinished project. For crocheting, four or five unfinished projects - got bored! Lots of fabric, though, I keep on buying it for the future - when I'll have time to sew to my heart's content.
Fiona lets do something about all the UFO's .
Make a list to-do and work from the top, you are not allowed to start something new. (Unless it is for an order.)
I don't think I'm that bad. I have 1 UFO project.
Lots of digitising to do which I try to also do from a list.
**********4 U all
Hugs Yvonne
Yvonne!! these are mutinous words .... Make a List!!!! Making a list, for starters, is quite impossible in my little sewing room/store room. It's darn near impossible in my big sewing room/retreat. I don't want to do anything about my UFO's - I've told my daughters to burn them when I'm gone and definitely not to pass them onto someone else to finish. I'll live with the UFO's, maybe complete some, dream over the others and remember the fun I had planning and beginning them. They don't really worry me any more - I'm having way too much fun learning new skills and starting new projects. Also they serve a good purpose by insulating the walls in their neat little boxes. :}

Sometimes I blame it on lack of time, too fast change of
seasons - you half finished your spring model, but now its
getting cold and you get the autumn - winter -christmas-
virus already. Now I got an additional "problem". One of my
sixteen year old twin girls wants to learn how to sew (which
I appreciate...) - however, it eats up more time. So it
happens again and again - best method to finish projects is
if I do it for birthday or wedding presents. So I simply
have to finish at a certain time and start early.
It is so comforting that I seem not to be the only one
which has buried "dead projects" in all kind of cupboards-
not to speak about loads of fabric, wool and other creative materials. Often I feel "under pressure" and
gave away some of the craft material to others :-))
Creativity girls, creativity. That is the reason all of us have UFO's in the cupboard. I think all of us get bored with a thing quickly and then move on to another. Wish you can see mine, quite a lot of it. Tell yourself " I am an arty kind of person" and stop worrying about it.
Wow, did you start a great topic. I don't have that many UFO's but I have lots of fabrics collected for future projects. For my UFO's, I went through all my projects a couple years ago & decided either to finish it or give it away. Somethings just were never going to get done. It made me feel better to start with a clean slate.
Ooooooh Fiona, what a topic you have started !!!!!!! I have so many, that my head is turning. I walk into my sewing room, and walk out again these days, because I do not know where to start again.
Must pull myself together, and do them all. I think we think of too many things at once, and then the brain goes on a sleepwalk. LOL,
Hugs and god bless
Marietta
I shall whisper my answer in case DH is listening.... I have so many work in progress (WIP) (unfinished or not even started) projects that I have lost count. No really I don't have to hide this info as HD is as bad as me, he has many hobby interests and many projects that are WIP. So we see in this matter we are a perfect match. :-D
Dear fleabag, I always finish a project when I begin it.
But I have bought dozen of things as dish towels, bath towels, Tshirts and dozen of meters of fabric which wait that I embroider them, I have dozen or hundred of ideas in my head!!!I have not had the time to do just one embroider for me, I have always make gifts with all the project that I have embroidered.***
Creative minds are quickly bored and that is why we have so many works in progress.
I have many things started that I have not finished once in a while I will get one out and finish it I have one cover I started cross stitchinf 8 years ago and I work on it once in a while I wish I could finish it every one that has seen it is just crazy about it .my problem is if I have something that takes a long time I get bored with it and put it away and go back and work on it once in a while .hugs Lenamae guilty as charged
I must admit, I'm not one to leave a project unfinished. I'm a type "A" personality and would go nuts to have piles of UFOs laying around. lol
Now my husband on the other hand has MANY projects all over the garage and his "man cave"... I doubt he will finish any of them this year.
UFOs I have many and many unstarted projects as well. I have stopped my self from buying any more fabric as I cannot move in my sewing room. LOL
Nope so far so good. I promised myself if I started someting I would finish it and so far everything I have started I finished before doing anything else. Now that doesn't count collecting fabric, books, patterns, ideas etc. But what a sense of accomplishment when its completed.
You better to choice a big boat as I can see we are a lot of us with a pile...a big pile of unfinished project !!
24 hours is not long enough for some girl like us full of idea but never the time to achieve every thing !
Captain Cathie
Now lets be kind to one another, I have NO unfinished projects. They are all a work in progess. lol
That is my explaination and I am sticking to it.
Helen
MY BOAT SANK DECADES AGO!!!
I am now into UFO's ") I have a patchwork sweatpea quilt all cut out and partly sewn for my Mother. She will be 80 this sept. I started it 2yrs ago. Gosh at this rated she might not get it before she passes. Best do something about that. Thanks for reminding me of unfinished projects Scary stuff ")
hi cuties. hahaha same disease (very contageous) or we must all be related. i have 11 projects on the go, keeps life exciting.Have promised myself a dozen times that i will not start any thing else until i am finished all i have on the go, but, but promises are made to be broken. hahaha. maggie
Count me in the best of intention category. I start to do a project then come across something which triggers a creative thought and poof another WIP is born.
Ahhh yes...the bain of a creative persons existance, VBG. I have a few unfinished or "slowly in the making" projects of my own...I've found that a positive twist to a shortage of funds is that it drives me to finish the unfinished, LOL!!! *4 everyone! ~Rita
oh Rita - slow in the making sounds really much better than UFO or another negative word- I think I will adept this !

sandra <-- is this beautiful horse at your pic yours? Everytime I see it I think how beautiful he/she is...
Oh-yes. And how about all the great designs you down-laod knowing what perfect project to use it on and then forget that you have that design all together--lol. If only we didn't have to sleep!
Me too...who cares..just have fun.....Flowers for all the cuties ! Some people are bored ans sad with nothing but death looming ahead. I think that even if you never finish anything...its still so FUN to get up every morning and wonder what new ideas will charm me today!!!!
Same boat!!! I'm probably the Captain!!!
I have a little smocked classic dress for my 18 months old daughter, smocking half done, beautiful quality sprigged vyella, cut out ready to sew, waiting to be finished. Thing is... my daughter is now nearly 53 years old, the first of five children.
I have numerous quilts from prepared blocks to binding waiting to be done... that's 24 years' worth of 'best laid plans'...... and, of course, those interminable patchwork class activities like unwanted and unnecessary pincushions and 'quick' projects.
There are some lovely little toddler shirts and shortalls cut out ready to sew for my toddler son, now 35 years old.
A room full of fabric, each piece a plan in progress.
Then there's the old craft cupboard. I won't go there!!!!!
And, here I am, cascading headlong into a brand new hobby and already I have a neat (no, not so neat, thanks) pile of wanna-be-duns; ME quilt blocks half finished because of changed plans, ME FSL table-runner 2/3 completed; design tryouts waiting to be put to use..........
Like you I want to try new skills, get excited, have the greatest intentions in the world, but I don't suffer at all. It's just me.
AlmaG.
An unfinished project over 30 years old, I think you have won the title here, lol!
Sorry, I meant over 50 years old, that's what I get for typing in the dark!
Thank goodness - I thought it was only me! It's not just embroidery, either - knitting, sewing, painting ... and I've wrtitten just two chapters of The Novel.....one day, one day.... :-) Dianne x x x
Add me to the list.I have a few things I started for my gd when she was born 21 months ago.Hmmm, she grew fast and wears a 4T already.Don't think they will fit.
But, still plan to finish them and set them aside for whoever might need them. Hate to see the patterns and materials go to waste. I have a Sunbonnet Sue quilt top 3/4 done.Done in red and white. Same color as the afghan I crocheted for my grandson. It only took me 17 years to finish that.
Well, I must be the only neurotic one in the bunch. I actually get stressed if the project goes unfinished. Having said that, I usually work 6 projects at a time... one embroidery, some beading, crochet , applique, quilt, and baby things. That way if I hit a snag I can move on until I can figure out a solution, but then I usually get right back to it. Maybe this is just my way of tricking my neurotic self into thinking that I'm really on top of things! :)
Hummmm, I don't like that question, can we change the subject...ROFL ;D *2U
I want to change the subject too .....please. I don't even want to think about my UFO's or as I also call them WIP's - work in progress.
KJ, I am working on a UFO now...I hope to complete it today...FIESTA ANYHOW ;D
ah yes the infamous UFO's, I have a lot of them I started a dress for my daughter when she was born born back in 1986 i found the other day, oops she is nearly 24. I guess now I will finish it for a grand daughter..... WELL ONE DAY (maybe) I am one that has to finish a project in a day or I loose interest :O)
Yes, I also have unfinished projects and a "I want to do list" that never grows shorter. In fact I am wearing a sweatshirt that goes right along with this. I embroidered "too many projects too little time" on it. I wear it a lot because it fits my mood.
Too many ideas, too little time!! At least I'm in good company!!
Hugs, Nadyne
Got one for you. Last year when the weather turned warm, I was looking for a pair of capri pants that I made to go with a bought top. looked through 3 closets and thought, how could I have misplaced them. finally found them under the pile of unfinished projects in the sewing room, still in pieces with the pattern still pined neatly on each piece. Funny thing, I just thought I had finished them!!! Kay
oh I don't think there is one person on this site that can say they don't have any uncompleted projects..I am always having to put a project off to the side because I need supplies.
oh yes, it´ s always the same, I want to do 1000 things a day and at the end of day there´s no time to finish all of them. And then they ly, and ly and ly- until for example my daughter catches the trousers without elatic and asks me: mummy when can I wear this really cute pink trouser you wanted to make for me....?
This is the time unfinished things are getting finished real quick ;o)
so I´m sure your unfinished things will get finished one day too !
Ahmmm and if you want to know: at the moment I have about 12 unfinished projects :-)

sandra
I have so many projects started and never finished I could never do them all in two lifetimes! LOL
oooooooooo yes, i hear ya! I have the same problem with all the designs i have started to digitize and then got another and another and another great idea and left the others behind. I have sooooooooo many. My problem is too many ideas and not enough time. I have started a list of design ideas so i wouldn't forget the idea. My list is now growing out of controll. Thanks for letting me vent...lol
Lee
Fiona, I try my hardest - to start and finish with my projects - but I have a couple - I have to be honest - more than likely - they will never get finished - as they were much too hard for me to figure it out. But on the most part - I start a project now and get if finished, before I start another. It works for me that way the best.
I have the same problem you are quite right My head has more plans than my hands can do.
I have about 8 projects are still to be completed, and every time I say yes I can do that if it snows or is very heart regen.En it never comes.!!
