and perhaps you have one for me:

in a little bit more than 2 weeks, school has finished for summer and I want to make the teachers a little present. So far so good: the teacher of my littlest lady is a funny young guy with a gigantic big heart for children and I don´t have any idea how to make him happy. He loves funny shirts and green day. Christmas I gave him a scarf which I stiched the sentence " I´m afraid of nothing, I am a teacher " on it and he liked it very much.
Now I want to give him again something unique, but to be true- I don´t have any idea...
Perhaps you can help me with this problem.
Tell me your ideas please !!
Thank you
saludos
sandra

Sandra, what about a pencil bag, with his name on the 1 side and verse on the other, with a key ring holder , with his initial on it , and a bookmark, with his name or verse on it. You could even put the year on it as well.

I think about a shirt that reminds him of your special girl and the year he teached her class- so ask her what she is thinking about him, maybe this would be a nice quote to stitch on a shirt.

Maybe it is possible to combine this with an applique tree, the leaves of this special tree could be the names of the pupil or the alphabet or numbers. Depends on the subjects he taught.

If this takes to long: Embroidery Library has a wonderful little tree with birds, the Graduation Tweets. I love them.
Just add your names and the date.

My SIL is a retired teacher, and she said that gift cards were what she liked most, b/c she could then get what she needed for the next school year. Apparently, her school system relyed on the teachers to provide a lot of their own supplies.

I like the idea of a tote bag. Embroider only the first names of the students on it. What a great momemto for the year. Or just embroider something related to teaching/a classroom.

HI,
I am a retired elementary school teacher, few years ago the students gave me a tote with their pictures
on it I loved it!!!. It is not 100% an embroidery project, the pictures were done by a mother, photo transfer, them she embroidered My name and some cute school theme around the tote. An embroidery mouse pad with his initials, or it could be a mouse pad with photo transfer picture, you may want to use the school group picture. A coffee mug with a school theme embroidery design. Good luck

If you are going to do a tee shirt or sweatshirt you could put the saying
"All men are created equal...
Then a few become Teachers"
I have that quote on a refrigerator magnet.

This is a good question especially since my son will be a math teacher. I'm looking forward to ideas. To get you started I listed a few school designs links.
You could decorate a backpack. My son prefers a backpack to a tote bag.

A wall hanging with a teacher appreciation message.

Your scarf reminds me of a plaque my sister gave me it says, "You can't scare me, I have kids." You could change that to, "You can't scare me, I'm a teacher."

1. Teachers Rule with class
2. Thank a teacher
3. Chalkboard ABC
4. ruler corner

How about a gift card holder with a card tucked in?
Even a small$$ amount for a coffee shop, local shop of some sort, etc would surely be appreciated.
Just an added thought, depending on the age of your child perhaps she could sit on your lap and "Sew" the card herself.

Here's my answer to a small but personal gift: Make a mug rug (be sure to include instructions or they may think it's a patch---say something like this: Place your mug on this rug....) Mug rugs are nothing more than coasters and with all of us spending so much time in front of a computer, a fun coaster is always welcome. Stitch out what you already did for this scarf and maybe add a pencil embroidery. Hope this helps.

I'm going to make my husband a shirt with an urban design on it. They have some really neat looking ones on emblibrary.com. The designs look like something a man would have as a tattoo (did I spell that right--lol). Very unique.
