MYSELF the cutest quilt from the letters and a few other designs I had squirreled away with all different colors of flannel for the squares, this really wild printed flannel for the borders and then fleece for the back - it was so cute, you just had to smile, so hubby dear takes it with him to one of his students (she used to teach quilting) to get her input and comes home without it!! She had to have it for her grandson so my hubby SOLD it to her!! I was tickled and broken hearted at the same time. That was my Diddle. He says you can always make another one, no I can't - I don't have the fabrics and plus I hadn't even taken a pix of it yet so poof it's gone, but it did stitch out perfect. sigh sniff sniff I want my diddle back...........;-)

The Diddle that Did.... Men will never understand the fabric thing. At least you got some money out of it. Sorry you didn't get a picture. I'm using him on a quilt for my GD. I'll be sure and take a picture before I mail him out to MA.

I think that it's wonderful that he is so proud of you and your work. Just think of it as the Diddle quilt being adopted. Congratulations on the sale!...Barb
PS. I think that chocolate will help your sorrow!

I'm not sure what a Diddle is but it must be awfully cute. I wish my husband would take such an interest in my sewing - to him it is just more stuff - you really are very lucky to have hime offer up such high praise. BUT, maybe the next time you should tell him, "hands off" in the nicest of ways. Sounds like he is a keeper.

My husband given the okay, would sell all my quilts. He thinks I make them for money. I make them because I love each one of them. I put alot of heart and soul into each one.

Oh gosh I'm speechless! Diddl is such a little sweetie too. I can't imagine what I would have said to my husband had he done something like this!

Well I think I might have contacted the student and offered to make another one. Hopefully your husband got a good price for the quilt. But the good side is that your work has been appreciated and gone to a good home

Oh Karen, this is the right place for this - are you being silly or what?? I am happy to hear that your hubby thought enough of your work that he wanted to show it off and that he also found a buyer for it - too bad it was not for sale - but perhaps you can get the student to take a picture of it and then you can go shopping for some pretty new fabric and make another but better. Good luck dear.

i just dont' know what is ok anymore. I didn't want anybody scolding me for selling a quilt with designs on it. I don't know who owns the rights etc. AT least I didn't mass produce anything....... ;-)

Obviously he was proud of your work to want to take it to show to someone. Sometimes guys don't realize how much love goes into making a quilt; they just can't understand unless they have created something they were proud of. I'd have liked to seen a pic at least! Diddle is so darned cute! Thank God we have memories....maybe hubby could ask the gal who bought it for a pic of it with her dgs. I'll bet she has one!

Someone must have used the 'abuse'button. However, your reply was totally to the point, although you could have put it less harsh.

I had no idea what that mouse's name was but he kinda grows on you, doesn't he?
So sorry you lost your Diddle.

I had a hubby once who did that with a 3' high black Panther ceramic statue I had painstakingly carved and spent weeks painting and kiln firing, until he looked so real as to be scary. I was so proud of him! I came home from shopping to find DH had sold him to his best mate for $500 because he said his mate kept upping his offer until he (dh) just had to give in.
I hate to tell you, but I never did make another one.
Hugs n roses, Meg

Did you at least get to keep the money? lol I think a labor of love like that, I may have given the cold shoulder to ( and I'm being nice here) for a very long time! Another way to look at it, maybe he was proud of your work and flattered at the high price someone was willing to pay for it. Men! Sigh!

Tell him , he owes you big time. No picture, then sold it. I hope you got the money. Maybe he can get the student to take a picture of your quilt and send it to you. Go shopping now for better fabric, make another one but don't let him touch it. LOL Hugs Lynn

Oh my; I guess I would cry also, but like the idea of shopping to make a new one. Besides that, you have undoubtedly made a little boy very happy.
Love the little mouse also.

I think that you should go shopping with the money and purchase more fabric. The more expensive the better. Make another, put your name on it so Hubby can't sell this one. In the meantime cuddle up with a favorite pillow and have a good cry. Ok, now get shopping.

not to worry I did!! and yep I'll make another but it won't be the same. I waited and waited for each letter hoping I wouldn't miss any and it was so cute. I'm not mad just wish I had a pix. He says he'll try and get me one so that will be ok. I'll post it if he gets it. By the By he got $75. Not bad it wasn't real big. I didn't mind just shocked.....

Been there and done that with a few things I have sewn not just embroidery. Seems that someone always want them. And then you have lost your Diddle. But look at it this way that child is going to have the most unique quilt ever. Cause no one will be able to copy it per square. What a joy for the child and mother. Maybe the lady will take a pic and send to you if your husband will ask her. Think I will have to go check out the alpha for Diddle.

I am sorry Karen. I too have a soft spot for Diddl. Hey, the good news was/is that your quilt was a hit with a pro! You can always make another one with different material and hid it from Jeb!!! Maybe, the lady that bought it would make a picture of it for you and then you could at least have the bragging rights!!!! You can NEVER get your money's worth out of a quilt! It is alot of hard work and love poured into them and is always hard to let them go at any price. We all expect to see another one of Diddl's quilts before too long!!! Hugs, Linda

lflanders by lflanders 07 Jun 2010

Diddle is an adorable Big (huge) Footed Mouse that is totally adorable! Story has it that it was originally a kangaroo and the artist changed it into a mouse. The Turquoise site has them (all 26 alpha??) plus some of his friends. There are other sites that will have a design every now and then but they are almost impossible to find. Hey, I am 63 and I have an obsession for the cute mouse!!! I sure would have liked to see the quilt before Karen's hubby sold it!!! That is my story and I am sticking to it!!!hee hee

lflanders by lflanders 07 Jun 2010

By the way...I hate mice!!! It is on very rare occasion that I download anything with a mouse!

LFlanders...try as I might...I've made repeated attempts to get that alpha set and can only get the last 4 letters...it's a bummer, becuase it is simply adorable. ~Rita
