Auntie, You have every right to post what you want but your method won't get far. Not to mention we don't know which or what design/site you are talking about. This site has new members all the time and they are clueless.
Well, earlier today, I replied to a post. As usual my reply was removed. This post was just a general statement to anyone that, "Just because you have my reply removed, I will not stop saying that illegal is illegal. Yes, you are right that there are new people on here all the time and I think it is a shame to mislead them about illegal and stolen designs, and the subsequent sale of such designs.
Your reply may have been removed because of the way in which you chose to write it, rather than the message you were trying to convey.
The person on whose message you posted was obviously very upset about losing a quilt she had made to keep for herself and you took it upon yourself to abuse her for the actions of her Husband, who I might add, probably has no idea about the issues with design copyright and licensing.
Yes I read your post and all I got from it was how could you be so rude, mean and nasty to someone who is already hurting.
We don't do things that way here at Cute, we are courteous and loving with each other and we try and keep spite at bay. When we need to pass on information to educate people we do it with a genuine interest in the receiver learning the rules FOR THEIR OWN BENEFIT, not to stir up, or cause animosity and have members fighting and taking sides over hurtful postings.
Seeing as you, yourself, are reasonably new to posting here, you have obviously missed the many, many, postings on the subject of copyright, licensing and ownership of designs.
Had your post not been removed you may have found yourself receiving hundreds of spiteful replies in defence of Karen, who has been a member here for a very long time. You could have possibly been branded a troublemaker and even asked to leave, all because of the TONE of your message to someone already hurting.
And did you even check to see whether or not, the designs she mentioned using, were unlicensed, before you accused her of stealing???
Just so you know, it takes many presses of the "ABUSE" button, before a post is actually removed, so obviously your post upset many others, who would rather see your post removed than see the trouble, leaving it visible, would have caused.
Just as this one here, is stirring up trouble.

Meganne

I guess I'm lost as a goose. Who,what, when and where are you talking about? Can you prove someone has used an illegal/stolen design? This is a very broad assumption when as far as I know, no one here when they post a project has to show a sales receipt for 'proof of purchase'.
You are either singing to the choir, or falling on deaf ears. Most people know what designs are legit and which ones are not. You can post 10 times a day everyday and the people that choose to buy unlicensed (stolen) designs will do just that no matter what you say or how you feel.
Now if you see a design in projects do not presume that it is an unlicensed design I myself own a few licensed sets and also got some with my Brother Disney machine.
If it makes you feel better to post the warnings by all means do, but I don't think you need to scream. No offense.
who say there were illegal, The site I saw they were for sale.Maybe you are taking her post the wrong way.We shouldn't judge. Just my opinion.
Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with your message, perhaps my dear, you could choose your words more carefully, without speaking so rudely to people.
By being so harsh, you will only serve to alienate people who you may otherwise have educated.
Try using a wet sponge instead of a sack full of bricks, it doesn't hurt quite so much but people are still aware of it.

Oh, Meganne, that's funny! A wet sponge instead of bricks! Never heard that before but will add it to my sayings that just crack my grand daughters up!
I also love this saying, you learn so much on here, not only sewing ideas...
Love ya Meg.
Warnings about illegal designs have been posted for years. mpo14011 has been posting time and time again, explaining the difference between copyright and license, but to no avail. People go on posting websites that offer them free or at prices so low you know they can't have got a license, and everyone not only seems to download them but show them in projects as well.
