My question is...If everyone has such good simple solutions then why the heck aren't we using some of them to stop this disaster before it gets any worse? IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE ALLMIGHTY DOLLAR! Who cares about the livelyhood of the gulf population or all the sea creatures, or the destruction of our beaches? No-one unless they're going to make a fortune cleaning it up! Sorry, just venting some of my anger.
Excellent! We all need to send this to our Congressmen- maybe one of them will actually look at it!

This sounds so great and easy but I bet they'll find a reason not to use it. Thanks so much for sharing. Arlene
Yep it makes sense, but if it makes sense they will find a reason not to use it.
You would think that even the cities along the beaches would want to try this, it would be a blessing if this would work. Let's hope that they find a solution to stopping the oil spill soon. Thanks for sharing. We all care about our planet and the wildlife in it. It will affect us all sooner or later. thanks for sharing.
Sounds GREAT but just watch, there will be so many reasons for not using it even though it's a very 'green' solution!
All in all, considering the efforts made so far, the hay doesn't look like too bad of an idea.
It's not that simple. They have already surrounded the oil slick with boom which is a floating tube filled with absorbent, designed to absorb the oil. I think trying to collect the hay after application would be a nightmare, plus they would have to figure out what to do with it. Bring it back to shore and incinerate it? What needs to happen is oil well drilling/servicing companies need to stop taking the shortcuts that lead to these types of catastrophic disasters. Pretty much that applies to all corporate entities. The almighty dollar is not all there is. If we destroy our planet, where will we live? I am most heartsick over the effects on wildlife. Poor birds, and marine mammals.
That is so cool. They need to pay attention to simple solution. Amazing. Thank you
Could it be so simple? I had heard that 1 state was putting out bales of hay as a barrier, but never heard any more about it. I am heartsick over this. And like everyone else, angry. I may be living in North Dakota, but our home is on the panhandle of Florida. When my husband retires we will be going home. I am praying that we will have beaches and clean water to go home to.
