I use Metro thread. My Brother 1500D loves it. I also use their pre-wound bobbins...both were on sale when I purchased them. Good luck in deciding!!!*
I use MetroEmb.com thread - bought all 166 colors on sale for $107 + shipping and I LOVE IT. Also bought the prefilled bobbins and have no trouble with them at all.
I use Metro and my Baby Lock ESE2 loves it. It did not like the Maderia Rayon, it was a nightmare. That is basically all I use with the exception of a few spools of Coats and Clark. and yes they do ship international, but only in sets not individual spools.
For my Bernina, I use Mettler/Isocord. It's what the dealer advised. So far I've been afraid to try anything else. But now they are selling Jenny Haskins threads.
Have R/A, Threadart, Gamut and some Marathon. Machine does not like brother at all.
mein garn heißt FuFu ist aus china und ist super und billig
yep I found out once that my machine didn't like maderia thread and i had lots. It only likes Robison-Anton thread. I stick with that.
When I had a brother 1200 it was SO fussy about the thread. Now I have janome mb-4 all my threads are ok. I have sarta, QA, and some from theda threads that are all great.

My Babylock will not embroider with Sulky rayon or the thread I bought from Designs by Sick. Both threads constantly break. However, it does a great job with Robison-Anton, Poly-X, Floriani. I suggest not buying too many of any brand until you have tested to see how your machine sews with that brand of thread.
Excellent advise. My BL and Brother machines do NOT like ThreadArt and I bought a bunch when I got a "good" deal off of Ebay. I ended up throwing the spools out and replacing them with Metro.
Metro. I do a lot of FSL and it works great on my Baby Lock. I also love the price.
Sulky, and Isafil.
I think the trick is to use a quality thread. There is rayon or polyester thread depending on the effect you are going for.
