96279A very Happy Birthday to Gerry in Tennessee. I will have to say that you are in the most beautiful place in the USA as far as I am concerned! I was all ready to move to Wears Valley and even had the house picked out when my health got so bad that I was afraid to make the change and go in debt for another home. It would have taken me too far away from my family and friends and things went bad very fast! That was about 8 yrs. ago. It was a bit over 6 yrs.ago when I had the awful surgery that went very wrong and I nearly died and laid flat on my back for 8 months. I made the right decision at that time but my heart is and always will be in the Smokies and surrounding areas! I have not been back there since the surgery as I do not travel very well. My arthritis has taken over my system and I am in constant pain and do not get around very well BUT I do get around and I do live alone. I can still drive and get to places that I need to get to but I spend most of my time at home with my 2 Pekingese. They are the loves of my life and just wonderful little 4-legged friends. I hope the sun comes out and the weather is beautiful just for you on your special day. May you be surrounded by loved ones and really great friends to join in your celebration! If you don't mind, I would love it if you would PM me and let me know where you are in Tn. I trompled all through Tn 3 weeks out of every year close to 25 yrs. We always went in early Spring (sometimes we would get in some snow), again in the summer, and the 3rd week in October every yr. My son and I had a pull behind camper(35') that I purchased after he got old enough to pull it in the mountains. The trips in the camper lots were much more fun than in Motels/Hotels. After we got the camper, our destination was always Pigoen Forge. We stayed in the same lot every time for many yrs. It was Creekside a couple of streets over to the right just as you entered Pigeon Forge from Gatlinburg. That area is the most beautiful country in the USA! We loved to ride the back roads and see everything that we could. I went for the Craft Shows in the beginning but it turned into the best times in my life. It made no difference to me if it was raining, snowing or if the temps were in the 100's, when I got up there I did not want to come back home. Our own Katydid has family in that area and she lives fairly close to me here in the Atlanta area. I do hope that when she goes home the next time that I will be able to make the trip with her. We have talked about it but have made no plans. To me, it is 100% God's country! He blessed that area with the most spectacular views in the world! I met one of the best friends that I have in Pigeon Forge many yrs ago. She is now back living in her home state of Ohio but we have stayed close over the yrs. Cathy had a Craft Store in Pigeon Forge when we 1st met but she later moved her shop to the Glades Craft Area between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. I never met a soul in the area that was not more than nice and friendly to everyone. Of course I got to be a very familar face over the years. I do make myself at home no matter where I go so I met many wonderful people! I am very sure that you hold down the fort and keep tradition alive in Tn! Very nice people wherever you go all over the state!
