Don't want to spoil other people's bussiness (in particular fellow-Austrians), but if you have a paint-program you can rather easily "convert" any image into a "X-stitch" image simply by rescaling.
THIS IS FOR MANUAL X-STICHING, not for a machine-file, though!
Scale it smaller to the "pixel dimension" you want to stitch out, e.g. image size 80x100 for 80x100 stitches, and then scale it bigger by a certain factor (e.g. 10, 100,...) to make it bigger and better visible.
If you're looking for a good (free) and quick image viewer with suitable scaling possibility, I'd recommand IrfanView. (It is a great tool to have on your PC regardless of the Xstitching...)
If you have a more professional drawing program (e.g. PhotoShop) you can apply various filters to reduce number of colors etc., but most often a simple scaling and a simple reduction of colors (also possible in IrfanView) does the trick.
I did lot's of "x-stiching" sheets for my grandma this way when I was younger.
I have have got and have used very successfully the DPS software for hand cross stitch. I have found this is a great company and they have always answered any query I may have had. I live in England and purchased the software here.
i live in the uk near worcestershire i could instant download the software for machine embroidery but i want the disc so i can put it onto an old computer i keep for this work not internet connected
Just remember that you must have the rights to the artwork that you convert if you are planning on sharing in Designs by Cuties. Have fun!
Sounds like something I would enjoy. Be sure to let us know how it works out for you.
Good luck, can't wait to see your work. Have fun learning and don't give up to easy.
I love cross stitch designs. I hope that you will be able to share some of the designs in the DBC section and in pes format. How is that for being selfish and making demands. Sorry, but I do love cross stitch.
