since around 5 years I'm using a Janome MC 9700.

Now I'm going to think about a new machine to make bigger designs or embroider on a bigger area without changing always the thread for each part. ( Like embroidering a farm with the house, a tree, the animals i.e), or bigger T-shirts around the neck in one part.
I do not quilt, but want also to starting digitizing.
If anybody can share experiences with that or a better machine I would appreciate so much.
Although I have only Janome, like coverstitch, overlocker(serger), I'm free also to look to another brand.
What's your opinion??

I used the MC 9700 for 2 years and traded it in for the MC 1100 last Dec. I love my machine and am amazed at what it can do. I have heard good things about the Bernina, but I am a Janome fan and get excellant support from my dealer. Check them all out and decided on what would be best for what you want it to do. Carol

thanks, I will do so.

My dealer also give me very good support, I can take the machine and ask what I want. But he is only a fan of Janome - all other machines, he have all brands - he says he have them - but they are not as good as Janome. I can't believe - all of them??
So I want to hear what the user opinion is. Janome is so expensive. If I buy I have to sell items to take the money back.
Have a great weekend

I too have a janome but the 9700
it broke the early part of this year and i was thinking of getting a new one as i would like the bigger hoop. whilst the janome was being away for repair i looked at the 1100 but he price was way too high just for the bigger frame so hen had a look around and found the phaff creative. large hoop much cheaper than janome and boy it knocks the janome into a bag as far as reliablitity is concerned, the janome i can not turn my back on the phaff is a dream. i can actually go to the bathroom and no loud bangs or bumps from the machine
janome have priced themselves out of the market and ok there is a section you have to just slide onto the phaff for embroidery work but its no big deal and saved me 0ver £1000 in comparison.
comes with the big crown hoop and a smaller one too. easy top loading. and much lighter to move around a big bonus for me these days.
i hope this will help you. annie inthe uk

Hi,
that helps me thinking about it!
I also found the pfaff creative. My dealer is a fan of janome and said the pfaff is made in asia and has low quality with lots of problems at the machine, will need lots of service. Is it? The heavy weight is also a problem, I move sometimes with the machine to work anywhere.
I saw the big hoop - it's the main reason for me to chnage the machine. So If I save 1.000,- - here it is a little bit more - I can save the janome as sewing machine and can work with both at the same time. For the MC1100 I would have to give the 9700 back because of the price.
I wil move to the dealer and have a look in practice.
Thanks for taking time to answer, have a nice day

i have had far more problems with the janome than i have with the phaff check out this group and ask in there you will find out more. the phaff has a slide in section so the weight is kept down ok it takes up a bit more space as room has to be found for it if you intend to use the machine for utility as well, only draw back is the design is not shown in colour and you only get the next thread color number. but heck for saveing over £1000 i can put up with that and simply write down the colors i want any way in sequence.

Lucky you for upgrading-I also have the MC9700-actually have had it for almost 2 yrs. but haven't done much with it-I never seem to have the time to really sit down and learn the whole thing-but I am now starting to do more with it. I have only used Janome(I bought my machines for my business)-my mother has a Bernina that she just loves-which she has informed me will all be mine when the day comes-won't even go there-but I am the only daughter and sewer so.... Good luck with whatever machine you upgrade to..as I stumble along learning this one ~~Linda~~

thanks -
I can encourage you to do more - the Janome isn't bad to learn stitching, it was my first embroiderymachine.
I also learned from my mother, she sew anything you can make from fabrics.
I started first to make new things from old ones. Like embroider small ready designs on a hole in the t-shirt and so on, or a redworkflower on a boring kitchentowel. Even to make names on cleanser-sheets for kitchen, bathroom and so on is funny to test the resources of the machine and for low cost.
Have fun - see how beautifully the designs at cuties are here - a lot of chances to try for free and get practice.
