Thanks to everyone this is such a great site with help available when you need it. Sally
I have 3D & since it meets my needs, did NOT want to upgrade. However if you try to install it, it will not install on VISTA. HOWEVER, you CAN install it as "XP compatable." Now, how that is done I can't tell you as my son in law helped me install mine! BUT surely someone can help you. It works just fine with my VISTA. As to the dongle. You do need the upgrade for your dongle, which you can down load from Viking..or at least you used to be able to. HOPEFULLY Jan Henning's site is still open as she did pass away recently. go there & she has very good instructions on how to do all this. See if you can print it all off to follow instructions better. If not PM me & I'll see if I have those directions on how to update that dongle. I also suggest you get one of those little connector thing that you put your dongle in & THEN put that into the USB port of the computer..you do NOT want to damage that dongle as it is not replaceable any longer. Good luck. Her link in below.
Hi Gerry, Thank you! I am not very computer savvy so will do like you and ask my son who is computer savvy to load it. I did read where you had to upgrade the dongle so will do that. thank you for the link also Thanks again
The 3D can be uploaded on more than one computer - actually I have it on two - as long as you put your dongle in the one your using it works. Don't know if 3D works with Vista, one of the reasons 4D superseded it was Vista.
I installed Enbird 2008 on laptop and desktop, but I think I remember reading something in the conditions of 2010 saying you could not - I installed it on my laptop only - the desktop still has 2008.
Hi Mops, Thank you. I am a bit worried about Vista but have read where others have it on that and this vista is 32 bits which all my other programs are so wish me luck otherwise I may be able to buy XP O/S and load on the laptop I will look again at embird site as I now have 2010 version....still looking at that side of it. Sally
I have mine on 2 laptops. The one is in my sewing room to work my embroidery machine. The other is in our livingroom so I can design and work on when here and not stitching. I just bring my dongle down to this one and work away, saving my design to input on the other computor when I want to stitch it. Hugs Lynn
Thanks for you comment.
Like you what I really like is to be able to go into another room with the computer and design.
My desktop is in my workroom and I would love to be able to be more portable. Sally
Sally~I would think that since both of the computers belong to you and you are not sharing the software with anyone else, it is ok. But I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will come along and give you more help on this. ~Nancy
Thank you I guess if I load on 2 they will surely tell me if I cannot do it. Sally
Sally, i have 4D, customizer, and Digitiser Pro, plus Sewwhat Pro and iconizer, I have them all loaded on both my laptop and my desktop. I am not sure if 3D needs a security dongle like 4D, but both 4d and digitiser dongles go on to both computers with no problems. I checked with my dealer and he said that it is legal. The only program I can have on one computer only is Deduper because I only purchased one licence for one computer because I thought I didnt need it on both. hope that helps Ruth
Thank you I would love to upgrade to 4D but finances do not allow at the moment and yest 3D also needs a dongle. Good to know I can load on 2 computer though. Sally
