Well I have 2405 folders of designs excuding what I have digitised.
When I save a design I only keep it in the format that I use.
I have been cleaning up my folders and now have 89282 designs.
When ever I have problems with my computer and my son must sort it out. He says " Mom when will you every use all these designs" - hugs Yvonne
I have just bought myself another 500GB external hardrive to take some of my designs
Last count was 120,000 & that was several months ago so it's plus that now. *
More than I will ever see again ! I find ones Ive downloaded and forgotten about all the time . I agree it is an obsession . But harmless .I also agree that many of the designs I got a few years ago are of poorer quality . Digitizing has grown up with my machine size . I am and always shall be , a collector !
Too many. :-) As all the previouse writers: It's filling up space on external HDs too quickly. And it's eating up time (-trying to sort those designs-), so let me ask you the question again, but differently:
How may different designs which you haven't digitized yourself, have you actually stitched out?
Past the counting stage a while ago..
I do purchase a lot from my favourite designers and also digitize myself..
any way I have 296 Giga bites worth..but this also includes my clipart
Mine are stored on an external hardrive
which keeps my pc running at very high speed..
I also back up with dvds.
I also have an email address that I only use for
storing.. basically any designs I received via email I copy to my on line embroidery email address.. this was brillaint when my system crashed last year..
Big hugs from London

I don't think my computer can calculate that high, but don't you know you just have to have one more as you may need it ( if you can find it) one day.
Last count, when doing back up 123,000. I feel quite sick, because I do not know what I am going to do with them. They are very addictive, but I know most of what I have got. You know, I think I download all the time, because I enjoy to go into all the sites, and in better times belonged to some sites (membership), and was so lucky to be given a present - cute membership -, not so long ago.
Hope I did not shock you too much, but my files are my favourite passtime. Also it taught me a lot about a computer through the five years I have collected.
Hugs to you all and God bless.
Marietta
I have to agree with most but its so hard being a junkie you cant help your self from just saying JUST ONE MORE WONT HURT!!!! Hugs Shazells
I must be the "baby" of the group... (lol) I only have 2500. Guess I better get crackin!
Kept in too many places as times have moved on to check, however the newer ones are probably much better designs anyway. Isn't it great when you do find just the perfect design for something you want to do at your disposal -whether or not it was free or purchased? And so often I find myself using the same design in a different way to before, instead of finding a different one. Like a favourite pair of slippers :)
I am so glad to see I am not alone.....ha
Over 2gb here and still loving it ! Yes I am an addict too.
Many thousands........many, many thousands!! I can see them all on my 3D Organiser. Haven't counted exactly how many I have but I did buy a 16Gb flashdrive to hold all the designs. It takes a while to update them but it keeps them safe and that's when I eat :}
AlmaG.
I've only been doing this 6 mos. and already at over 5,000(some bought some free). It's getting harder to put them in the right folder too. It's a bad as my fabric collection. (I LOVE FABRIC)... I'm one of those that has to touch every piece in the store. I've learned which fabrics have good hand and which don't. I guess I'll learn which designs are worth keeping and which ones aren't. hehehe BTW WELCOME!
Did you mean CHEAP fabric, or at a very reasonable price compared to the fabric stores. This microfiber fabric I found at Wal*Mart feels very nice to touch and after washing/drying it DOES make a wonderful backing for quilts.
Too darn many and I'd love to calculate how much I've spent for them.
AT LEAST I see I'm in good company. :0)
There are so many great digitizers out dangling that one design we must have!!!!
Like everyone else, too many to count. Am getting pickier in downloading. However, it is nice to have an addiction that only takes up computer space and doesn't fill my sewing room. And Hoarders has offered to feature me yet! LOL
OK at last count, it was over 17,000. My Buzz tools keeps a count and often when I use it to covert a design, I'll run through the whole catalogue to make sure I have them all. I have been collecting about 8-9 years I guess.
I use a protection thing called Carbonite to back up my stuff. I think it's $50 a year and backs up anything I want it to.
I think we are have compulsive disorder of some kind. he he he
Way Way Too Many To Count, and again that is not counting the ones I purchased! I believe when you buy an embroidery machine you become and embroidery Junkie! The freebies are a good way to test some designs work! You will find some really good designs to some designs that don't turn out. So I like finding the sample or am happy getting help to find the sample designs from other great cuties.
Too many, but all are indexed! Have been collecting for over 10 years and my latest backup has 75,000+
I download an average of 50 a day mostly freebies. At first I put them on a CD but filled quickly. My husband bought me an external hard drive for Christmas so they all are stored there. The last time I checked I had over 60,000 folders but that doesn't count designs in each folder (alphabets and pack collections). So who knows how many individual designs I have.
designs? What designs? I don't have any designs...
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!
Too many! Have begun being more discerning about collecting.
Welcome to Cute.
I do not know but I know I will never use all of them my son told me the other day you keep collecting designs and know you will never live long enough to use them I told him if I wanted it that I could fine it in my collection. and not only that he and my husband will have to learn the machine and how to do it and they could usr them.
Lenamae
too many says my husband ;o) My friend called me her embroidery-guru cause I have so many designs (freebies and purchased).
That's the wonderful thing about the internet: I can buy my designs all over the world, pay directly and get my stuff immediately. Even this is although the bad thing: You always find wonderful new websites to buy embroiderydesigns (and I swear so often that I have enough designs for 3 lives of stitching :o)
greets, ansalu
Way too many in way too little of time (it an be quite addicting) - I have 2,000+ individually collected as freebies and small purchases (one or a set here and there) - since early February. I also purchased a couple of big lots that puts my total in the mid-five figures.
we had this quetion before, it was Raels who was the winner at that time.
I have a lot between what I got as freebies and what I have bought. I lost a lot when my computer died and never did get them back even thou I paid the guy to retrieve them...........he did.....but I can't open them so what good are they. Got to get using them Hubby said.
I have also collected all the Feebies that I can (thousands) I bought a lot of the Embroidery Design Cards and have used those for a lot of my quilts and projects.I love to look through my collections and make plans in my head about what I could do with each design, but then I go with the simple plan of 'One Project At A Time'.From Bev
Just about enough to last for 4 lifetimes :) Couldn't possibly use them all.
I plead the 5th on collecting and digitizing. :) Welcome to Cute Embroidery.
I've been collecting for about 10 yrs. and have accumulated about 1,000,000 designs altogether, lol.
Free designs and purchased. I just started digitizing but have only made 2 designs, lol.
I have no idea, but I would like to have all the money that I have spent in the bank right now.
I probably have over 200 alphabets alone. I love those little letters. They are just so cute! But I am sure I have at least 5 zeros at the end of my count. I have well over 1,000 free floral designs alone. And I don't digitize. I am really hard core, aren't I? 4 years and a lot of designs in my stash.
I think I have about 17,000 and I've only been collecting a little over a year. But keep in mind that every single letter of every font and alphabet counts as one. So they add up fast in that catagory! How many do you have estherwaayenberg? Fess up!
I am not telling and plead the 5th. Ha, Ha
I don't digitize, and I've only been embroidering a little over a year. I'm ashamed to say by now I've collected about 2GB, which is thousands of files. Most of which are freebies. But once again, I'd really be ashamed to say how much I've spent on designs, too!!
Yup--that's the REAL secret, how much we have spent on machine embroidery designs.
