In Windows Explorer - make a new folder (I use "Convert") and then put the file in that folder. When you open PA search for that file folder and open it. There are two rectangular boxes in the middle of the screen - in the second of the two boxes use the drop down arrow to scroll to the bottom of the list and select "all design files". Then in the first of the two boxes, give your new file a name. It will open the file in it's original format. When it's open use Save AS under the File menu and save it as the format you need from the drop down box. Some of the time it can't (I use VP3 and it won't convert to that format, but it will convert to HUS which my program can open). Hopefully this will help you out. It will save the new file in the same folder, since the file extension is different from the first. Then you can delete the original, and move your formatted on to the file where you want to store it using Windows Explorer.
ummm, I am dumb here so, how do I get to windows explorer, lol, yes, I am that stupid. I clicked on start and didn't find windows explorer. I put a folder on my desktop, that didn't work either. I am on Firefox if that matters.
click on Start on bottom left of screen, then on All Programs, then Accessories, there is an arrow at the end of the Accessories to indicate there are more options, when you click on the arrow you will see a list, Windows Explorer is at the bottom of the list, click on it and it will show you everything that is on your computer. Click on My Documents, then go up to the File Menu and from the drop down box click on New Folder, the box for the new folder will be highlighted so that you can name it. This file will be placed in your My Documents folder unless you want to put it some place else. Which you can do by just clicking and holding the click button and drag the file to where ever you want to put it.
I am running XP on the computer so some of this might not apply if you are using a different operating system. Then I don't know how to achieve the same things. Firefox doesn't matter, as I use it as well.
A couple more things. If you are using XP, and found Windows Explorer, make a New Folder and call it Downloads - that way everything that you download can be assigned to go to just that folder. You will always be able to find them. Once you have that folder you can go to "Tools" at the top of the internet screen - it will drop down to show "Options" at the bottom. Click on it, and in the middle of the screen you will see where you can tell the computer to download to that folder every time. Put a check mark in the box that asks about the Download Window, that way you can tell when the download is complete. Make sure the first little round button is marked with a dot and then you can browse to your download folder. Be sure to click on the button at the bottom of the page to save your changes.
I don't know what embroidery program you are using, so this might not apply - I use 4D for viking/pfaff. Right click on a file that is not your preferred download format, a box will come up, click "Open with" tell it to open with your embroidery program - if it is not listed as a choice you can browse for it. It depends on your embroidery program which files are available this way. It will open your embroidery program with the design on the screen, then under the File menu, you can choose "Save as" and tell it the format you want.
I really thought you would get me there, you started me with the basic, which is what I need but this is what I got when I to it Windows Explorer wasn't the bottom, Internet explorer was and when I clicked on it I got this:
Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons
All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.
To continue to your home page, click the Home button.
To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again.
Check for the latest Windows updates.
How do browser add-ons affect my browsing experience?

So, do you know where I go from there?
You don't want Internet Explorer. You want Windows Explorer. Click on green Start button on bottom left of screen, then on All Programs, then Accessories, there is an arrow at the end of the Accessories to indicate there are more options, when you click on the arrow you will see a list, Windows Explorer is at the bottom of the list. E-mail me at "thecraftycritter@clearwire.net" without the quotes and I can send you a picture of the screen.
It should have put it in the same folder as the jef format design. If you can't find it, do a "search" from the start menu. HTH
peardrop :)
ps: been there, done that, lol
Did a search with download name and one with "it's christmas" and computer couldn't find it. I was going to download again but this is what I get, a box with a choice of "save file" but doesn't say where or I can browse for where to file it but it doesn't let me make up some new file it has things like Firefox, imageready, itunes, nero burning rom, netscape.......I is sooo confused, lol!
and for the problem not to find your file once again:
make a new case on your computer only for your sticking files and put them all only in this filekeeper. It´s easy if you give it a name like "stitchingsfiles" or somethings else. I did it the same way because I´m really a little bit chaotic ;-) if I wouldn´t do like that I would never ever find a file once more !
So for this - keep on stitching :o)

I never heard of embassador until today and downloaded it but when I try to download the jef format my computer doesn't know where to put it. If you read my response to peardrop you will see what happens when I try. Thanks!
ok - I´m must say I´m not really good at explaining things, but I will try ok ?
You open the file you would like to convert with the ambassador. Now it is shown in a window and under that you have a line where you can choose all different formats to stitch. They are flipping if you click on it. There you have to choose the one you need and save it- thats it !
I hope this helps you a little bit ... and if you need more help let me know -if I can I will help you of course !
un saludo
