I don't recognize this problem and I love the use of Metro thread, just try waht the other cuties suggested and I hope that is a solution for you. Sorry to hear about your problems.
I bought the 66 spools about a year ago and I haven't had a problem. I actually love this thread.
Hi If you have tried all the suggeations given and it still is not right call the Company you bought it from and explain the problem with them. Ask to return the thread. I had a problem with YLI serger thread just 2 weeks ago. It kept breaking in my new serger. I brought it back to the place I bought it and they told me the whole batch of white and beige thread had an issue. It seems it was not coated correctly on the last step of processing at the plant and it shreads and breaks constantly. They replaced the thread for me and now its serges perfectly the way it should. Maybe that's what wrong with your thead. So I ccontat the manufacture or the place you bought the thread. It may not be just you. Hope that helps Suzanne
I use a thread stand and I have heard that some people use a thread net (I do not) I have been using metro thread (5000 yd spools)
for almost 2 yrs now and have never had a problem with any of the colors. I have my machine slowed down to 350 stpm because that is how my machine likes to run. As far as needles go I am horrible about changing them, I use them until I have a problem. I am sure once you set the spool up higher and away from the machine you will be in love with this thread. You may want to also try the thread nets.
Hi,
here is a photo how I use the holder.
I added a simple straw, the striped one, to enlarge the pin for bigger spools. You can use the holder for laying spools as you can see or put it on the pin, depending to the size of the spool.

Hanna- looks like the MC9700-same machine I have! I actually have a 10 spool thread stand that I have off to the right of my machine and run it off that way-no problems(unless it is an older thread-then it will split and break).
Hi,
yes it is the MC 9700. I haven't space for a threadholder, because at the right backside I have my coverlockmachine, than the table is full.
But as you write - anyhow - a threadholder prevents a lot of trouble with trhead.

Hi, hopefully you tested on an old fabric befor damaging a good one. I know well this problems with chear thread. Since then I used the threadholder from designgsbysick I had this problem everynow and then. The threadholder is so a great help. The thread is plan and not twisting anymore. Also perfect for Rayon and silk combined with lower speed.
Good luck

Hi Nama,
I agree with everyone on here and the one big thing that makes a difference is the thread stand. Mine sits on the back of my Husqvarna machine and I was told to miss threading the first part of the silver attachment near the top of the machine. You can see in the picture the thread comes down from the top (that is where my thread stand is, behind the machine) and then I pass it under the thread spool and then under the silver plate section. Ever since doing this I have never had any problems. It's just a suggestion and it works for me. Good luck love and blessings Chris
I'm going to keep watching this post. I haven't used metro yet. I had a problem with one type quite a while ago and did the usual... Changed the needle, larger needle, slowed my machine down and nothing worked until I tried a thread stand. That's all I use now.
the metro works well in my viking try a little larger needle maybe.
I am so sorry to hear that. I never had any problem with the thread. It usually was the needle. I do a lot of FSL and it works really well with my Baby Lock. Keep us posted what the result is going to be.
This sounds very odd. I have never heard anything but raves about the Metro thread. I have also been using it for a little over a year and I love it. All of my machines love it, the Pfaffs and Viking. I know every machine has it's own quirks. What machine are you using? Can you post a picture of your stitch out so we can see the problem. Maybe one of us can come up with a solution.
I have been using Metro thread for some time, and have had no problems with any of it! But I use a cone thread holder, a size 10 needle, when I used an embroidery needle, even Madiera thread shredded on me. I have a Viking/Hus, and now a Brother machines. Neither have probs with Metro!, Hugs, Judy
I had issues with the Metro thread until I put it in a vase next to the machine (someone suggested this). I am happy to say that it all works great now with the exception of one color - black. I even got two spools and they both shred and break like crazy. It must be the dye/color. For the price I would do it again but I need to throw that black away.
I have used the black with no problem, isn't it funny how one person has a problem and others don't. That is just weird, cause I can't use Maderia Rayon it breaks splits and is a nightmare when I tried to use it. But no problem with Metro.
If you have tried the suggestions like changing needles, slowing the machine down a little etc, could you perhaps let the people you purchased it from know that you are having problems with quite a few of the threads and that you are very unhappy. They should try to help you - it could be a bad shipment. I had this problem once with QA threads years ago - nearly drove me batty, so I know what you are feeling.

Sorry I cannot help but I have leant so much from your question. Cuties really help!! Thanks everyone.
Sorry you are having issues - I have found it to be wonderful thread and I have used over half of the 166 colors I bought (and I bought their bobbins too). So, gonna suggest some things that may seem stupid.... frustrations can make all of us overlook things sometimes.... Have you changed your needle - that is one of the first things I do when it starts shredding? And what size/type needle are you using? Are you using a thread stand or the thread holder on your machine? If the thread holder on your machine are you sure the thread is coming off the spool in the right direction (some require it to come off over and some under)? Are you sure you snapped the bottom ring back to closed (so the thread does not get stuck when it is trying to come off)? Hope maybe one of these thoughts will help you!
These are all good suggestions. Make sure you change your needle first thing! I would use a thread stand, it feeds the thread much more evenly.I love the Metro thread I have, no problems at all. I am surprised you have had problems. Good Luck
I read your question first, then scanned down the list of questions. There is another post on here right now from quiltingqueen (?) who just got her Metro shipment. Everyone that commented raved about the thread. Have you tried it with a new needle? Just a thought. Hope it goes better for you. ~ Nancy
Maybe you could talk to the place you bought it from. Since you are unhappy with their product and have posted that information here, they may be willing to make good on this.
I just bought 50 spools! Haven't used any yet, sure hope I don't have the same problem as you.
nama2, oh no - that sure doesn't sound like the thread I have been buying and using for a year. I would contact the dealer - see what they say.
Oh no, that stinks! I went to the site after your excited post and was thinking of placing an order too-prices are good and the colors are great-now I am not so anxious to do it. Hope the whole lot isn't like that.
thank you to all who answered and gave me suggestions. I had a new needle in, just changed it, adjusted the tension a little bit, I haven't tried a thread holder, that was my next step. I guess I can contact the company but, that is such a hassle. I was hoping for some solution from you guys, cause I know everyone is so helpful here.
