Okay, this is funny... I was the only Jewish kid that had a pig. So I brought him for show and tell. I just loved that little guy. We gave him to a farmer who had a petting zoo at his house (under the condition that he would NEVER be slaughtered!). My pig eventually died of old age, but he sure had a smile on his face when he went!
I went to school in a one room school and I do not remember a show and tell all I remember is studing and trying to make good grads.

My brother took in a "test bomb" (a souvenier of my Uncles from the Navy) one day for show and tell. The school was NOT happy!
I don't remember having show and tell. I remember having projects to do though. My projects often used cardboard, glue and fabric.
When I was in the second grade, my family moved out to the "country" from the city. We had a new house built on five acres (enough to raise animals, my mom thought) My dad built a rabbit hutch and it was soon filled with rabbits--my parents told us to "not get attached" to the rabbits. One day we sat down for dinner (we had 8 kids in our family), and my oldest brother let it slip out that we were eating our rabbits! Most of us started to cry, and my mom still says this is the biggest mistake she ever made (besides having 8 kids) Rambling on now. . .when my 34 year old son was 8, he shot a squirrel out in our yard. My husband is a hunter, and always told our son he had to eat anything he shot. Well--all heck broke loose when DH told DS to go skin that squirrel and start the barbeque. Our neighbor, who was about 80 years old at the time heard all the commotion, came over and told our son he would be happy to have it for dinner. He made spaghetti sauce and polenta.
LOL.... that a great story... Don't you just love the old days. When we where little we never asked whats for dinner. We sat down at the table and ate what ever was on our plates. I think deep down inside i new if i asked i wouldn't like the answer..lol
I agree. We were always told that eat what is on the table or leaves the table.

I went to a small private school and we did not have show and tell. but I do remember that we had what do you want to be when you grow up? Well I always wanted to be a stewardess and where one of those cool uniforms. Well that would never happen since 4' 10" gals are not accepted. I had my dreams though, and I married a pilot!

My Dad wanted me to be a stewardess, he is 6" tall, Mom is MAYBE 5' so I am only 5' 1 3/4" and I'll take every 1/4" I can get. I just did many different jobs till I married my DH and we decided I would be a stay at home Mom and thankfully our children turned out pretty good!
i'm 4' 11 3/4 and i always tell people that i'm 5 foot nothing..lol I give myself that 1/4 inch
I guess I am too old cause I went to 1 room schools in the country, and we never had Show & Tell. But, I loved your story! I can just see those kids, with their faces all scrunched up!!! hugs, Judy
thank you Judy... it's funny now but at the time i was puzzled and didnt understand with the problem was. I thought it was cool then but now i laugh about it.
