Thanks for information. Just need to know where to purchase in England?
Thank you all for the information. I have been wondering, too. Can the Mylar designs be stitched in the regular way?
Some absolutely brilliant and imaginative person dreamed up the idea to use the plastic film
Because they loved the look of metallic threads but had so much difficulty using it.
No it is not the mylar like the metallic ballons. Heirlooms by Sharon is an excellant site to get information.
here is a picture of mylar..this is what is used under the stitching of the embroidery design..It has translucent and iridescent qualities..
Lots of free designs here for using mylar
OK I hope I do this right, here is a website that explains Mylar-http:www.heirloomsbysharon.com- I don't know how to download links-sorry, but you get a free mylar design of a butterfly, I have stitched it a couple of times because I LOVE the look of mylar. It is really beautiful.
I can't get the butterfly design....is anyone else having the problems? Thanks! :-)
It is a plastic like film - like they put around the gift baskets. Some designers are using it under designs and it gives the item a glimmer or shine.
Thanks for asking the question. I would like to know what it is to.
The only thing I can think of it's a metalic kind of film. Like Mylar balloons. They are the metalic ones that hold the helium in longer.
This could be a totally wrong explanation, but since you have no one answering you yet, this is my best shot :-)
The mylar that balloons are made of are not suitable. The color peels off and when washed will run. I will look up the sites that sell and tell about mylar.
