I've often thought that certain linework designs would be great and easy worked as an applique. Some of those designs that have the satin-stitch shapes with the complete outer edge but no fill stitching would make good applique works, too. I think you'd need to watch the stitchout and repeat the outside line. I've never done it... temptation to challenge another failure not strong enough yet :}

Thanks Alma, I think that as long as it is an outlined (with satin stitching) it can be appliqued. With this design I used (in projects), I just laid the fabric down and let it stitch out the design, then with applique scissors, I cut closely to the edge. Shirlene suggested that I fray check the edges so they don't pull out, which I think is a great idea. :) You should try it on a scrap first if you are a little hesitant first... You'll be thrilled you did. ;)
yes I did the dolphin toweltopper from Turquoise as an applique even as it was not meant to be , it tuned out great.I posted it that time in projects.
Thanks. I was a little intimidated at first but it wasn't too bad... Good to know it can be done. :)
Haven't tried it, but most fill designs do not allow applique. But, if you are trying it now, please let us see your results. I love to applique, and there are so many pretty ones out there. I guess if you have software and can remove stitches, a fill applique could be done.
Thank you, I see that you have commented on the applique already. This design didn't have filled stitches so it made it easier. I imagine if it is just outlined stitches it would be fairly simple. :)
