I know what you mean. Not sure I want to give it a try. You can see the vest in the projects section of Cuties

I was a misunderstood question from my daughter, but has turned in to a great question for us beginners. :)

Velvet can be tricky - what type of stablizer is she using? She should try a sticky back, or basting around the velvet before trying to stitch. I would most likely try the sticky back, and basting too. Velvet is one material that you would not want to hoop, so that it would not have the hoop burn. Wishing her luck with this.

thank you for your answer. After I posted this, I found out it wasn't the embroidery she was having trouble with but the gaberdine lining she is using as lining with the velvet. Thanks again. It's still good info to know for myself. :)

Oh, then that is most likely the real problem. Embroider on the velvet, and then line the vest. I still wish her luck.
