I do believe I would do it the very same way as you have suggested with Redwork and flour sack towels - but with the same thread in the top and bobbin - to give it pretty much the same look on either side. Hope you have fun with this - I really love the flour sack towels the very best - even when they are wrinkled - they look wonderful. Hehehe!
This is redwork - but I used this technique with this loose design and they really have held up well.
oh, I love this design.. I am going to try to work on some tomorrow and I will try to post in projects in the next day or so..
If it's a good stable flour sack, I wash it, press it with spray starch and hoop and stitch the towel with no stabilizer. They come out lovely, especially with RW.
I guess I could melt some of the scraps of water soluble and put it on with a brush and then stitch when dry.. I will try this also.. thanks..
My Christmas bells I just did that is on the projects page, I used a med.wt tear away. I use basting spray to keep it in place...
I've done them with just the WSS on bottom. And I used the same colors in the bobbins. That way they are reversible.
great answer.. I will put the same color in the bobbin that I stitch with.. I have never done this before but have lots of redwork designs and flour sack towels..
On floursack towels I use a Solvy iron on tear away stabilizer.....I don't usually iron it on just hoop it with the towel and I only use WSS on the top of terry towels....hope this helps.
I think if I use a tear away it will distort the stitches on redwork.. have you had that problem?
