Thank God I am one of the fortunate ones that can make purchases from time to time. I must say if I knew my PC was going to up and croak on me I most likely would not have bought the serger. I have depleated my "mad money" embroidery account completely, and then some. I did get to spend some quality time with the serger and learned how to thread it. I have made 3 sun dresses so far! Again I give thanks to the Lord for His many blessings and the good health of my loved ones and myself. God bless all of you also!

You may not be purchasing designs, but you sure are producing with the new baby. Enjoy working with your new serger and PC

AHHHHHHH my dear I did not have an old serger so you are one up on me! It is just so strange that I thought about buying the serger... took the plunge and then my PC died. If it had died 2 weeks earlier I would not have bought a serger my simple side would have told me I can live without a serger but NEVER a PC! I guess the good Lord wanted me to have both ♥ I L♥VE JESUS!

Oh well, just collect all the daily free designs for a while. When I bought my serger years ago, it did come with free classes. They were totally worth every minute. The first thing they went over was how to thread the machine. Most valuable thing I learned in the class.

Thanks Joann I will be doing a lot of freebie downloading I think. I can believe that threading was the most valuable it literally took me 4 very long and stressfull days to figure it out! I want to learn so much more now.

I find I can spend a few hours a day just downloading the freebies posted here on Cute. That's plenty to occupy my embroidery craving, but sometimes I succumb to buying designs----

Hi,
I know this serger, I also have three janome machines. You will love it! The first three weeks I was about to bring it back . it was "not workingg properly". As I was teached what I did wrong, kind of thread, presure and so on - it works really nice. Will not miss it - you will also not miss it after a while.
Last week I bought a presserfoot for blindhems - will see how it works. before i did this with the sewing/embroidery machine and wasn't satisfied.
I wish you good success, trust the Lord for your money and needs - He will care.
I'm not sure how you work - for me (and all I know who are embroidering or sewing) most of all our outcomes is for others, isn't it?
God bless you

Dearest Bärbel thank you. I am also very curious about the blind hem. The machine came with an instructional video it is VHS and I no longer have a VHS player! I have a difficult time understanding written directions. I am thinking about going to the "serger 101" course that the Janome dealer has. He charges for it because he has a lady teach the course so she gets the fee, I could not get it free. I will continue to trust in the Lord and thank Him endlessly because He has provided for me and I am grateful I am provided for. Yes all of my "work" on sewing and embroidery is for others and not myself same as you and many others. God Bless you Bärbel.

Hello,
with my computer I can view the DVD from Janome - don't you have a CDROM on yours?
This helps a lot with knowing to use the right thread.
Have a blessed day

Never mind, it's only money as they say! Look at what you can achieve now - we got a new Hewlett Packard computer and I love it (touch screen - I feel like one of those NCIS/CSI agens!!!!)

I love my overlocker too, but have never done anything more than seams on edges where I don't want them to fray. I never had lessons, so it's up to me to learn to do more things with it.

Love and blessings to you too Chris

Oh so funny (NCIS/CSI) My PC isn't that sophisticated.
I think I will buy myself serger classes to learn it better for a Christmas present to myself
>it will take that long to afford it< hahaha

Wow - it sounds as if you are full of energy - I love it!
Take a hat at any birthday in your family and collect a small help!
It's not a joke! My family like to support me for things I really want. I'm 54 and have almost the things I need. So my eldest daughter is the organizer to see what she can collect to surprise me with the support for my deep wishes. She knows I don't want to have.....the ?th piece of.... is saving dust or standing right in the way - hope you understand what I mean?

You will see - it will work properly at least and you will enlarge your abilities,
I'm sure! You can also find really helpful videos for this machine at "you tube" , go there and search for the name of your machine. Some videos are only funny some
are helpful - I did so.

I know and I shouldn't be so very sad but I so enjoy purchasing new designs. This has completely tapped all of my resources for designs, threads and fabrics, not to mention the extras of stabilizers, needles, and any new toys I see out there. I used to love to look at everything and know I could have it if I wanted it but now I can not have anything for most likely months! I am sorry I am being ungrateful I am blessed the Lord has provided for me.

Sorry about your computer. However, I also have a Janome serger and I love it. Don't know how I ever did without one for so long! It makes some things so much easier :)

I can't wait to learn more things to do with mine, I am a little hesitant to try too much too fast.

Sorry about your PC problems, but do enjoy your serger! Is a serger similar to an overlocker (South African) which has 3 or 4 threads?? A tip on threading if it is the same type of machine. When changing your thread colours, cut your threads about 2 inches before the tension reels, (except the needle thread, which you thread on as usual) remove old colour cones and knot new thread onto each loose end, then pull gently until the new colour appears at the sewing end, then thread your needle with the needle thread. Tighten the threads into the tension reels. Stitch out a few inches before you sew fabric. Hope you can understand this, it's so much easier than rethreading from the start of the reel.

Yes I believe it is also called an overlocker. I wanted to cheat and thread it that way but a good friend advised me to actually learn how to thread it in case the thread ever broke then I would know what to do. In the future when I change threads I will do as you suggest ;)

hanna56 by hanna56 03 Jul 2010

I had this problem with the thread too - I needed to buy overlock or good qualitythread - this do not break. I decided the big cones overlockthread - was cheaper than sewingyarn.
Hope this will help - I tried a lot to accept this!
I bought one by one 15 colour each of them 4 cones - more I didn't need yet.
