Just a thought I spray my stablizer then lay a sheet of wax paper over that where the hoop goes I take a pin and score the paper cut around it and remove the paper lay your cloth on that then hoop. Your hoop will stay clean and you don't have to clean it.I don't spray around my hoop.

I need to add, I do this when I embroidery something that I don't hoop.I didn't mean to say hoop both peices of fabric.I hoop my stablizer with the wax paper cut a hole the size of my hoop out in middle of the paper then lay my fabric on top of that. Then embroidery my design. i do a lot of quilted bags that I don't hoop,so it doesn't leave a ring mark around my design.Hope this makes better sense.sorry for the first quote.

I found Electra Shave or some brand of pre-shaving liquid works really well.

For my hoops and worktop I use a spray degreaser and detergent special for embroidery machine .You can find it easily at your embroidery machine reseller.

I was going to suggest isopropyl alcohol like bikermom, aka rubbing alcohol--though I suppose you could use Goo Gone if you have it.
