Heres another....If you don't want to use a spray all the time do what I do. I buy masking tape from the hardware or art store cheap per roll, and tape around the edges . The tape holds well but comes off quickly leaving no sticky residue. saves on your spray too. Suzanne
Thanks, I have tried this too - but with spray in the middle - really don't want it to move around and get the outlines off.
I simply LOVE 505. I have tried a lot of them but this oneis the best! It spays on lightly without going all over the place with overspray and it sticks so well. Whats nice is you can unstick your design reposition it and stick it back down several times. (Other sprays if you move it it won't stick again) You only need a little to go a long way so its more economicial too Suzanne
I use 505 also, but spray it very lightly. It sticks well. I can't get it where I am living so I purchase it from Allthreads on the internet.
I use an Arbee craft temporary spray adhesive, very lightly, occasionally (it's what I could find and afford at the time I bought it). A couple of quick light sprays onto the centre of the hooped stabiliser holds the fabric sufficiently until I 'Fix' it onto the stabilizer with the basting stitch.
Recently I sprayed some onto an oval of batting to give a 3d effect on rose coloured silk-type fabric which I'd embroidered for a card and two spots of spray left wet stains on the fabric - must have been heavier spots than the rest.
I should have shaken the spray a bit longer. I've never had any trouble before. I covered the top spot with crystals in the shape of a star and left the other bottom spot as my 'humility spot' :}
Spray has a part to play, especially with fabrics like satin or velvet, but I prefer to pin larger pieces of fabric and clothing to the stabiliser until it I have it basted down with the 'Fix' stitch.
I did a Mola class with a teacher who never, ever hoops any fabric. She works a lot with specialty fabrics that would show hoop-burn but she treats all fabrics the same way... denims, cottons. That's when I learnt to use spray and broke the 'hoop everything' theory.
I don't dislike spray but I don't like over-spray making my hands, cutting board or the hoop sticky. Normally I step out onto the deck to use it. The hoops wash easily in some warm water with a dash of dishwashing liquid.

Thanks for your reply. I went to a class where they taught not to hoop anything either - they said use sticky stabilizer but I am not really liking it very much - tough to get off. I had used spray before that and going back that way - that is why I wanted Cuties opinions on sprays.
I use June Tailor quilt basting spray, when I need it.I can only find that at Hobby Lobby. We don't have anything in my town that carries stuff like that except there...
I use Dritz Spray. I usually buy it at Joanns with a coupon. I have tried other ones but did not like them. I use this when I am doing in the hoop projects.
I don't like spray, if I have to glue something I use magic tape instead.***
Hi,
I use ATE103 - it's not too expensive - a big can with 500ml Spray was only about 4 to 6 Euro - it last a long time. No problems with needle or by removing the fabric. Only my hoop looks a bit dusty after a while.
I'm German - so I bought it at ebay - it comes from Austria
Bärbel
I rarely use it - but when I do - I use 505 and/or a quilting spray that is really light adhesive - in comes in a pink/white can. Hehehe!
I use 505 just about everytime. When I am not hooping an item, as with a towel, I use OESD Aqua Mesh Plus. Sticks really well and is a water soluble stabilizer.
I like Sulky spray with the green top. It is expensive ($14.00 ) a can but I buy it with a 40% off cupon from Beverlys or 50% off at Joanns stores. It is non toxic.
Thanks, that is the KK2000 and I have been using that but it is not overly "sticky".
When I do use spray adhesive...it's Dritz Spray Adhesive from JoAnns (I also use a 40% coupon)
Hugs
Linda
I have never used spray adhesive. I like iron on stabilizer if I am worried something is going to shift.
I scarcely use spray adhesive, when I do I use 505 and I spray very light, so I had no problem with it . For jersey T shirt I use sticky stitch stabilizer, or press and tear stabilizer, or filmoplast stick, that I stick completly on the back of the T-shirt, I put all in the hoop, and the fabric is not distort.
