This is a sample of the front and back of a reverse applique design. I used felt for this sample..The directions are simple..just like applique only reversing the method of application..meaning that you (1)hoop your stabilizer, (2) dieline will sew for placement of the applique fabric.(3)lay your applique fabric face up on top of the stabilizer, and on top of that, your garment you wish to embellish..(4) the rest of the pattern stitches out. (5) trim away excess fabric from the top side of the garment.the process is simply putting the applique fabric under the garment instead of on top. Hence the term "reversed applique". In the picture on the left the black fabric would represent the garment and the white, the applique fabric. the picture on the right is the backside of the design.
