I heard that using coffee filters as a replacement for stabilizers is that it wrecks the heck out of your needle, that type of paper product was not meant for that usage, try making coffee. I also heard that coffee grounds were good for the garden keeping certain pests away.
I tried it once, it was with a RW design and thank goodness I did a trial run first cause it all ended in the trash. I was not happy with the way the design held up. Maybe someone had better luck. Carol
The shop where I bought my machine had a course on stablizers (they also sell stablizers) and the lady that tought it, also works for the shop, said we were much better of to just use the filters for coffee. I haven't tried it, but I don't see why it wouldn't work regardless of what she said. Maybe we should try it on a test stitchout.
I have to try this! You can get a ton of them in a box at a dollar store, what a savings that could be!
Thanks for asking the cool question! I too will try it to see if it works! Thanks! :-)
It does make sense, no lint to cause problems on the inside of the machine. I just went into the pantry and grabbed a Mr.Coffee filter and ripped it to see if it tore easily... It did so maybe I would try it for a RW design or for a toilet paper design nothing too dense. I will give it a try on a few different embroideries and see how it works and get back to you in the next week or so.
Gee, I don't know - I usually just use what is make for embroidery on mine.
Hummm... That's a thought. I don't drink coffee either, but my husband does, so I might just try it and get back with you. They are fairly sturdy. Interesting...
